Well...the place is decent...decent in the sense - there is no dirty laundry...the rooms are clean and the rooms are furnished beautifully If you are heading out to this area and need a place to crash then this would work If you are going with someone you want to spend quality time with - I would STRONGLY advise you NOT... The playwright William Congreve famously warned us about the fury of a woman scorned, esp. one with an attack mouse, I will add. This fit of pique posing as a review makes me think there should be a subset of Murphy’s Law: “If something is about to go wrong, you probably saw it coming.” In numerous emails Vidushi asked that... Everything is very nice here. The rooms are of a nice size and nicely appointed. We had a room that did not have a private bathroom. The breakfast was rather meager. I didn't care for my personal effects being moved. I had placed things in a certain way, I didn't expect that anything would be disturbed other than someone making... More

All four of our rooms have private bathrooms; this person must have stayed in the Varigotti Room, however, the bathroom for which is right next door to the guest room, only a few steps away and for that room only. This is clearly stated on the website. Our twice-daily housekeeping is fairly thorough, and if we find clothing strewn about... More

Lorraine and Giancarlo's hospitality is superb…warm and welcoming with just the right degree of kind assistance. The house is also perfect: It’s full of 18th century antiques and envelops one in a sense of comfort. Outside, the garden and yard provide a verdant oasis. But, I would return for the breakfast alone. We loved waking to their handcrafted delicacies, prepared... More

I've driven past 100s of times and never knew of this wonderful B&B tucked off the road. Thankfully the hosts had one of their 4 rooms available when I needed a place. My 'Varigotti' room had very comfortable extra-long twins. My spacious private bathroom was just steps outside the room and the hosts provide robes if needed. Lorraine and Giancarlo... More

The Millbrook Country House offers the warmth of a 'home away from home' and the charm of a romantic getaway. Giancarlo and Lorraine are intersting an gracious hosts, the rooms are attractive and comfortable, and the food (both breakfast and fireside snacks) are delicious. Two weeks after our visit, Jon and I made their famous lemon/ricotta pancakes for our Valentine... More

The Millbrook Country House (MCH) provides a welcome which makes you feel like a favorite houseguest. The host Giancarlo arranged for us to visit the lovely nearby estate of Wethersfield and was very helpful in telling us about the lovely area of Millbrook. Our room, Chiavari, was not very large but was comfortable and quiet and was furnished with bright,... More

My husband and I had a lovely, restful and restorative week end at this beautiful B&B in Dutchess County. The furnishings from Giancarlo' family house in Italy are beautiful, interesting and tastefully blended with the austere proportions of Federal architecture. We stayed in the Barocco room and the bed was not only beautiful and ornate but also very comfortable. Plush (and... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed all of them! Rooms are beautifully furnished with antiques. Hotel is close to the road and some rooms hear the traffic loudly. the gardens are lovely and in the spring look great. One of our group stayed in the twin room and we were surprised to find the bathroom ( while private) is... More

We thank the writer for her thoughtful, largely positive review. Historic houses (ours is c. 1808) are often located near roads, in our case a narrow two-lane one. In May, when the writer was here, the weather was mild, with no need of the central a-c, so windows were left open to let in fresh air. (Normally both the interior... More

We stayed at this lovely inn and were so imporessed with the gracioius hospitality of the owners. Their suggestions and conversation with us, in general, contributed to a extraordinary comfort level. The decor is beautiful , tasteful and pleasing to the eye. We also found the dining options quite extensive for a small village town.

The Millbrook Country House is a treasure, as are the couple who own it. Lorraine was an editor at Gourmet magazine for many years--no wonder her lemon ricotta pancakes for breakfast were so yummy. Giancarlo grew up in a villa in Italy, and heirlooms from his family can be found throughout this lovely Federal style home. It's remarkable how the... More
