is ok, fairly clean, friendly and helpful stuff, 24 hours reception, can check-in at any time. next to the train track, very noisy, AC inside the room but makes noise, you cannot sleep without earplugs, unless terribly tired like I was. Felt very safe in the area, I arrived at 02:00 am using the subway, and left 03:00 am with no problems. shop right next to the hostel. across the road other shops for food which are cheaper, only a short train ride to the main attractions. Large kitchen, 2 large fridges, pool table, large seating area in the basement too noisy because of the train track next to the window, noisy AC, no lift, steep stairs, cleanness of toilets was not to the best.

The common room they have is really good, met a lot of people and had good fun there. The rooms themselves are okay, the main problem for most at the hostel was that the temperature controls were broken and needed constant attention from ownership. Room could get unbearably hot for some. Had good location though, subway was nearby and the ride to Manhattan was very short.

Facilities were better than I imagined, close to the metro station, easy to find. Common area is a little awkward but it’s ok. Just the staff, first girl was nice but a little harsh on the way to communicate, second shift guy was asleep and also not too friendly , third shift was also felt like it’s hard for her to work there. I work in hospitality and I didn’t felt welcomed. Overall was good , just the service , need more customer service.

The Q4 Hotel (more a hostel than a hotel) is one of many hostels across all of NYC and one of the cheaper ones, by that we mean cheap for New York price as hostels in New York are not cheap at all, which is a huge appeal to the place. The Q4 is pretty easy to find within NYC being close to two subway stops that have easy and very regular direct links to Manhattan without having to change multiple times to get to Times Square and Port Authority. Obviously being in Manhattan is preferred for a NYC stay but to get a cheaper hostel, that isn’t as nasty as eating a mouldy bacon sandwich covered in your creepy uncle’s toenail clippings, is hard to get unless you go out-with Manhattan. You can’t complain about the Q4’s location at all. Within the hostel, it’s a reasonable stay. In the common room down in the basement holds a decent sized kitchen, a tv with a good old Netflix subscription, comfy couches, table tennis and vending machines. It’s generally a nice vibe and atmosphere down there that sometimes is host to some entertainment such as stand up comedy. To top off the common area there is a part in it that is basically a vault that is dimly lit at all times filled with comfy couches and cushions which is perfect to nap on and make those stand up comedians feel awkward by hearing your snoring during their gig. For full review check out link in my bio , much love trip advisor people xo…

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay here. Its actually a hostel but we got a solo bedroom with tv, the bathroom was nice. There is also a common area with an entertainment. Good deal for an average place to stay in New york :)

Hostel staff overcharged my credit card and ignored my email when I attempted to politely ask for a breakdown. After sending a follow-up mentioning that I planned to contact my bank to have the charges reversed if they failed to respond, they threatened to permanently ban me from the hostel and shrugged off my request for a breakdown, telling me to check my receipts. So, I checked my receipts, which confirmed that I was overcharged. I sent two follow-ups, both which were ignored. tl;dr Prices may look appealing, but beware as the staff will attempt to scam you. If you can find accommodations anywhere else, do so. Otherwise, book at your own risk.

Location is nice for Bus, Metro, Subway users. Small green park : Dutch Kills Garden give you some comfort. Room is small with but found clean. Reception was helpful. The disadvantages is check in time at 4.00pm where as check out 11.00am. But their is arrangement for deposit luggage upto check in for free of charges. Absolutely for backpackers and who is for Night stays. Value for money.

Q4 is impressively a clean place (keep it that way Q4). Staff was friendly & helpful when asked directions/questions (except 1 who was focused on her phone than customer service). Guests in the room were so friendly (planning our next stay together). Q4 is located adjacent to train lines making access around NYC easy (ex: You can get to Time Square in 15 mins) although it’s 24-hr-train lines noise was unbearable. With all of that: I will stay at Q4 again making it a memorable one again 😀

This hostel is probably best for solo travelers, with easy access to public transportation. Subways across the street, ample buses run nearby. Generally younger crowd, and lockers on small side, but beds and showers are good, 24 hour food pantry around corner. 24 hour security and check in. Three floors, no elevator, kitchen and game room in basement.
