We had traveled close to 2 hours to stay at Mongaup Pond, August 9-11, 2014. The children were excited and we couldn't wait to relax and unwind. We arrived at 11:00 am but check-in was at 12:00 pm. The young man and woman at the registration booth seemed to be annoyed with us. A friendly greeting is the first impression... More

My family and I have been coming to this camp ground for the past 15 years. However, this past two years I have detected two things that I didn't like the ducks poop all over the beach-lake area nobody cleans it. I had to clean it myself so my kids can swim and play with the sand. I felt very... More

Our first time camping with our 4 and 7 year olds, and we wanted it to be very special. Mongaup is truly special. From the moment you are greeted by the professional, kind staff at the booth, you realize they have this thing down. You can get firewood and trail maps, and they have your reservation in their computer, it... More

For someone who appreciates rustic camping, this was a great campground. No cell phone service, and nothing to do except to enjoy nature!! I was only there one night, but it was a very clean and well-kept campground. I would definitely stay here again if I wanted to explore the Catskills (which I do)!

I have been coming to Mongoup since the 70's with my parents, now I bring my kids. Nice sites which are situated a decent distance apart. Very quiet for the most part, rangers keep the rules in check. Lakefront sites are the best, but not a bad sit in the place. I drive 5.5 hours to get to this destination,... More

We only stayed one night, to see if it's somewhere we would want to go again. We only live about an 1.5 away. We brought our furry child with us since they permit pets, with proof of rabies vaccination of course. The only problem with bringing our dog was that we couldn't do much, like go to the beach or... I have 3 children, my youngest is 17. We have been camping at Mongaup Pond since our children were small. They loved going every year and never wanted to leave. Many great family memories were experienced there. They still love it to this day. So much so that we decided to have a big family reunion camp out this year.... More

We had never been to Mongaup Pond before so when we arrived, after the check in at the Ranger Station, we were pleasantly surprised at the location of our campsite. The view of the pond(actually a small lake) was beautiful, the campsite was clean and there was plenty of space between sites as well as some brush and trees for... More

I came to the campground in Spring 2012, and had a great experience, staying on Loop A. This year (August 2013) we stayed on B loop, and it was the craziest environment I have ever 'slept' in. The people across from us brought their parrot, which squaked all day long. The group of russian speakers behind us played horrible Z100... More

My boyfriend has been talking about this place forever! He LOVES it. I finally got the chance to go with him and we had a great time. Our site was not as "secluded" as I had expected for camping, right by the bathrooms and water spout but with a 5 year old that wasn't such a bad thing. The fire... More
