Just stayed for a night on the way home from Montreal, and wished I had gotten there earlier or could have stayed longer. What a pretty little place with old, solid, rustic cabins, run by a really nice family (for a couple of generations, apparently). Located right off the NY thruway (I 87), and reasonably priced

Stayed many places in the Catskills, unfortunately many were far from what I would consider clean.however Carls Rip Van Winkle Motor Lodge was superb. Before I booked the room, they allowed me to view it ,which after many disappointments, this is what I prefer to do..there was no mildew odor, which you'll find in some motels, the sheets smelled fresh, and they were... We stayed at Rip Van Winkle's motor lodge for one night during our visit to the Catskills region. When we made the reservation, we didn't know that we had been assigned a log cabin. It was a major and lovely surprise! We had never stayed in one like it before and it was an amazing experience. We had our own... More

To avoid driving home after the annual Catskill High School Alumni Dinner at the Inn at Leeds last Saturday evening, a friend and I stayed at Carl's Rip Van Winkle Motor Lodge, which is close to the Thruway exit at Catskill. This is a long-established business and a pleasant place to stay in the area. Our room was right in... More

This is the second time I stayed here. Once in 2006. Does not disappoint. Clean, well stocked. Came before season started, but they rented us a room even before they opened! The management was helpful and friendly. Will be back!

While making a reservation at Carl's Rip Van Winkle Motor Lodge I was asked if I wanted a motel room. I requested a cabin and was very happy I did. It was so nice to relax at a cabin in the woods. Our room was clean & cozy with a fireplace.I was a little concerned about noise as it located... More

I fulfilled a childhood dream of sleeping in a log cabin! The Big Brown Bear was the only missing dream segment, but he looked like he would come from behind one of those beautiful trees. The Karl family run Rip Van Winkle with Fine precision. I would love to fulfill my childhood dream again soon!

We usually camp out in this area. This time though we thought it would be best to stay somewhere with a comfortable bed and a shower. Very accommodating staff and when we needed to check in a bit earlier than check in time they were willing to give us a room. Room was clean and pleasant. Pool looked nice but... More

The individual log cabins are ideal for privacy and have private decks with Adirondack chairs. Easy access off of I-87. I stayed in the Windswept cabin (a single) and the room was immaculate. Spotless bathroom as well. They even had a charming fireplace that is functional in the colder months. I stayed in mid-August. The room was spacious and the... More

Large spacious rooms. Very clean!! Family owned operation for years and the pride showed!! I hint of mildew smell but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!! A nice small but very helpful item was the nightlight they provided. Great bed and clean box springs!!!!!!
