Our overnight at Sassafras was over New Year's Eve. We had a very comfortable stay in the suite. All the furnishing were antique and the wall hangings unique and interesting. Breakfast was served in the Library/Dining Room and was fresh and excellent. We are looking forward a return visit!

What a find! The whole house is let out to guests and what a house. The owner has to be contacted just before arrival so that she can be there to let you in and show you your SUPERB room. You are then left to your own devices until next morning when she returns to serve a lovely breakfast. The... More

What a great find! Found the Sassafras looking for an alternative to the overpriced motel/hotels. You feel at home from the moment you arrive. I was greeted by owner Audrey who is close by. The home has all the charm you expect of a B & B, with period furniture and comfortable rooms. Morning enjoying the delicious breakfast prepared by... More

My husband and I came to Lancaster NY on our way to Niagara Falls Canada. We spent the night at the Sassafras B&B and what a lovely treat it was. The house is beautiful and well appointed with eclectic and period pieces of every kind from the furniture to the pictures to the books and doll house. You could spend... More

I stayed at the Sassafras while I was in Buffalo for a wedding. The house and rooms are well-appointed and very clean. I stayed in the Olive P. Lester Room, which gets great light and has a spacious bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. Ken is very easy-going and accomodating (check-in and check-out times are flexible) and he makes a... More

Lancaster is my hometown. We return every couple of years and get in a lot of visiting with family and friends. After each very full and hectic day, we are so happy to come back to the B&B and spend some down time in our room to unwind and relax. The house is extremely warm and inviting. The rooms are... What a pleasant surprise to find a bed and breakfast in my hometown of Lancaster, New York! The decor was beautiful and the bedrooms were spacious and so comfortable. My sister and two nieces joined me to visit another sister who lives in the area. It was so wonderful to have the large dining room and parlor areas to sit... More

I visited in May 10th & 11th 2013. The home is a registered historic building and the interior is wonderfully done. There was ample parking. Ken was there to greet me and help with the bag. He will make a hardy breakfast every morning (included) with plenty of hot coffee. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you will be given... More

A gorgeously restored, national historic landmark, the Sassafras was a delightful B&B experience. The home is beautiful, and each room unique. We went to Lancaster for a family wedding, so several members of our family booked rooms there. My husband, son and I enjoyed our room on the third floor with my cousin across the hall. My parents had a... More

We enjoyed our stay here as we traveled from the Midwest to Massachusetts - the home has been beautifully restored and our room was comfortable and roomy. Our innkeeper, Ken, was knowledgeable about the history of the home and the town as well as local eateries. He was also amenable to an early and hearty breakfast before we hit the... More
