I stayed here two nights while photographing the Nile river festival in January. The dorms are quiet and clean, they have hot water in the showers, the guys at the reception were a ton of fun and they also have padlocks if you want to lock your stuff in a locker. They have a lounge where you can meet lots... More

Prices for dorm beds have been almost doubled in little over 2 years from US$7 to $12 (35,000). The place is clean, friendly, and usually crawling with backpackers. The wifi is usually pretty fast. But if you're on a tight budget, you can find a decent place for half the price by walking 10 minutes down the street and asking... More

I visited the backpackers in the low season, which might have affected it quite a bit. Not very many people, very quiet, which is not what you’re looking for when you check in to a backpackers. But that’s not their fault. The food isn’t very good, it’s not worth the money. And the mosquitonets are FULL of holes! At least... More

... Some of the staff needs to work on their hospitality. We had one guy that worked almost everyday we stayed there (aways had a different coloured staff t-shirt on...like he's special) and he just made you feel like you were always interrupting him, that placing an order at the bar was the worst thing you could do and just... We expected a lot of this accommodation because of the good rating. But unfortunality its very noisy especially in the evening when most people want to sleep because of the excursion next day. They play loud music till 1am even when there are no guests in the bar. So if you are looking for a relaxing place to stay i... More

Hi Tinus Jan v, Thank you for writing a review. The bar at Explorers Backpackers is not open to the public and is generally closed no later than 11pm. I am informed by the barman on duty and the Backpackers Manager who lives on site, that this was the case on the 2 nights you stayed. I am therefore at... More

I stayed there but did not do the rafting. The only good thing aboutthis place is the wi-fi connection that works from 8:30am to 8:30pm more or less. Everything there is expensive from the price from a dorm bed (10 bed dorms) to the food that is not great. I had the lasagna and you knew it came made and... More

Backpackers is THE place to stay in Jinja if you're on a budget. You can get lots of discounts if you do the adventure activities such as Rafting. The staff are the FRIENDLIEST people I've ever met, we love them all! Especially Musa, Gerald, Markie, and Nash :3 the dorms are great with comfy pillows and a nice strong fan... More

I did not stay at NRE, but had arranged with them to take the shuttle from Kampala, eat and drink with them for 2 days and take their Nile river cruise. The location is great, short ride from Jinja town, with all activites on their doorstep. There was a nice range of food and they have two menus, one for... More

It seems the Lonely Planet recommendation has gone to their heads as the manager sought to charge me and my wife $14 to pitch our tent on their 'campsite' (ie small patch of lawn next to building). It was late at night when we arrived so we offered to meet in the middle at $10 per night (more than fair... More

We also offer free tea & coffee in the morning and two nights free camping when you raft with Nile River Explorers. Cheers Leslie More
