I did not stay at NRE, but had arranged with them to take the shuttle from Kampala, eat and drink with them for 2 days and take their Nile river cruise. The location is great, short ride from Jinja town, with all activites on their doorstep. There was a nice range of food and they have two menus, one for... More

It seems the Lonely Planet recommendation has gone to their heads as the manager sought to charge me and my wife $14 to pitch our tent on their 'campsite' (ie small patch of lawn next to building). It was late at night when we arrived so we offered to meet in the middle at $10 per night (more than fair... More

We also offer free tea & coffee in the morning and two nights free camping when you raft with Nile River Explorers. Cheers Leslie More

My boyfriend and I stayed in this backpackers just for one night because it was so dirty and overpriced. We paid $30 for a dirty double room with toilets and showers outside the room. (We found much cheaper and cleaner accommodation in town the next day.) The showers felt like prison showers - very dark and dirty with insect nests... More

Hi Laraann1233, We are sorry you were disappointed with your stay at our backpackers. We are currently in negotiation with our landlord regarding major renovations to the building which are long overdue. With regard to the internet, unfortunately access is always erratic in Uganda regardless of where you stay. Glad you enjoyed the hot water. Cheers Leslie More

Musa, Doug and Kowa were amazing in all ways today. We had the time of our life, from training, encouragement, wit, humor, etc on the rafts. The pre.raft school was appropriate and they were there, along with others, on time. Mark did the bookings and logistics with honesty and great patience. I will come again.

I stayed here for a week. Thanks so much to the staff, particularly Nash, Musa, Gerald, and Nathan. They are extremely friendly, and helpful. If you want to hang out and read a book in the hammock, or play cheap games of pool, or meet other backpackers, volunteers, or explorers, you have come to the right place. The backpackers is... More

It's the 3rd time that I've been to this place and each time always feels special because of the beauty of the place especially the Nature. I and my boyfriend always enjoy the walk through the trees to the water. The food from the restaurant near the water is very good especially the prawns. We were there a week ago... More

We stayed here on many occasions during a 3 month visit to Uganda and I think it was excellent. The staff were really supportive and welcoming and looked after us well.
