We were excited to go to the hairy lemon after a busy day of white water rafting on the Nile. For the price the rooms were uncomfortable and ill-equipt and many of the mosquito nets had holes in them. Staff were incredibly unwelcoming and we felt that we were intruding upon their personal space, despite the fact we were paying... More

This is not a 5 star hotel but for what you pay it might as well be. It is a stunning little relaxed and friendly haven on its own little island on the banks of the Nile. From the moment you step onto the boat across to the island a magical calm engulfs you and the hussle and colourful energy... More

i loved the natural sorrunding and the sound of water flow at night. And it is a family place where meals and breakfast are had togther. There should be improvement in the type of meals prepared and the clients informed of what meals they offer. There needs to be a proper boat that is used to get to the ISLAND... More

I honestly was very disappointed in hairy lemon!they were not welcoming. Not only was the food little but also horrible. The rooms/beddings were disgusting. It was a rip off I must say and I CANNOT recommend it to anyone.

I've been challenged to write a review of the Hairy Lemon without using the words 'Heaven', 'Paradise' or 'Amazing', this is going to be tough... Spent a week with 5 fellow kayakers, staying in the 'River Cottage' dorm right next to one of the streams running around the island. The bunks were comfy with clean bedding and good mosquito nets.... Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about our island paradise. We are really pleased to hear how much you enjoyed it. River Cottage is possibly one of the best rooms to stay in as you have the river running right past your front door and your own private bathroom. Hope you can spread... More

This is a stunning little island. It’s the perfect place to relax the old fashioned way, no emails, no phone connection, no TV, no fuss. The friendly, family atmosphere is all you need after a day’s kayaking or any other activity. It’s secluded and tranquil, it has everything you need without stressful extras. What a place! We came to Uganda on a kayaking trip so had time both at the top of the river Buj and at the Lemon. Stayed here twice for about 3 days each time during August and it is perfect to chill out and relax. No internet or phone signal and nothing to do after 8 or 9 forces you to unwind and catch up on sleep. Soak in the channels around the island or veg in a hammock. For a few nights we were... More

A group of us went after seeing the rave reviews on trip adviser and having had several recommendations. We were so excited to go, and the island was so pretty and great to see.
