Pristine diving, basic bush accommodation really made us feel alone. Incredible diversity of animals, great team and authentic accommodation. This is really a bit of heaven if you are looking to escape all the mod cons

The property sits on a ROCKY beach 300m from the water, with SHARP rocks where staff themselves cut their feet! The "pool" is an oversized, half empty, oversized bathtub. The food comes in small portions, and the drinks are expensive. The rooms have RATS and the mosquito nets have holes in them. The property has armed guards peering into rooms... More

This review is a reposting of a review previously removed. I will reply again- albeit briefly. This guest came right up to me and started his stay (this is a He) with a diatribe of racist abuse against Muslims. This is a little surprising as Zanzibar and Pemba are predominantly peaceful but quite Muslim Islands. This guest then dived to... More

I've been diving around the world, and I live the sea. I own my dive kit and boats on a small island off the UK. I've to Cuba, the Red Sea (Mainland and Sinai) , Great Barrier Reef, The Andaman and Nicobar Islands the Maldives, Mexico, The Canary Islands and all over the UK's smaller islands. About ten years ago,... More

Dear JdSc96, Thank you for such a thoughtful and very realistic review. It has been a pleasure having you dive with us over the years, We are so happy that you compare Pemba diving favourably with the rest of the world. We hope to see you next year - for a dive and maybe a safari Yours sincerely Raf More

I spent a week here with a group of 6 others in April 2015, and it was everything we had dreamed of and then some. We all work in Rwanda and were forced to cancel another trip at the last minute due to security concerns, and the owners were fantastically helpful in getting everything sorted. We reached out just over... More

Dear Scotj Thanks so much for your review. We love getting great reviews it's such a vindication of our efforts, you are so correct to say that we are not for "high maintenance" people. Pemba is a unique island with unique challenges ; and we are proud of our role of being Pemba's budget option and professional NAUI pro platinum... More

This place breathes a certain tranquility, it makes you slow down in an instant. You feel relaxed, welcome and at ease within the first hours after arriving. The shared meals are moments to meet other guests, to hear their diving stories of the day. Even I got excited by all the stories. My first diving experience in the pool was... More

I spent a few days at Kervan Saray with my friend Pierre in july 2014. Can only have the warmest words about the place, owners and staff. It gives a real off the beaten track experience, in a fascinating corner of Tanzania. We did diving, snorkeling and some birdwatching but the best experience was the human factor. The place really... This is one of my favourite places. In stark contrast to the southern island Unguya, Pemba offers a much more relaxed atmosphere and better diving. South of the resort there is a estuary system that has som very, very cool drift diving in the canals leading in an out from the estuary. Particulary when the tide comes in. The service... More

Kervan Saray lodge (home to Swahili divers) is a beautiful peaceful getaway - far, far, far from bustle or cities and surrounded by wildlife - under and over the water. You feel that you are among nature and completely off the beaten track, away from it all. The knots and anxiety of regular life dropped away completely. The diving, the... More

We were blown away by the visibility and beautiful reefs here. My wife and I are avid divers and we spent four days here as an add-on to a safari trip in Tanzania. In hindsight I wish we had planned for diving here longer. There were very few guests while we were here, and we had our own dive master.... More

This has to be the best diving experience of my life, the reefs are so healthy and there is little bleeching, the sea life is rediculous and there are fish of all sizes. The vis is the best i have seen ever, a truly mind bending experience. The staff and owners give the place a real good vibe, nice and... More
