This is one of my favourite places. In stark contrast to the southern island Unguya, Pemba offers a much more relaxed atmosphere and better diving. South of the resort there is a estuary system that has som very, very cool drift diving in the canals leading in an out from the estuary. Particulary when the tide comes in. The service... More

Kervan Saray lodge (home to Swahili divers) is a beautiful peaceful getaway - far, far, far from bustle or cities and surrounded by wildlife - under and over the water. You feel that you are among nature and completely off the beaten track, away from it all. The knots and anxiety of regular life dropped away completely. The diving, the... More

We were blown away by the visibility and beautiful reefs here. My wife and I are avid divers and we spent four days here as an add-on to a safari trip in Tanzania. In hindsight I wish we had planned for diving here longer. There were very few guests while we were here, and we had our own dive master.... More

This has to be the best diving experience of my life, the reefs are so healthy and there is little bleeching, the sea life is rediculous and there are fish of all sizes. The vis is the best i have seen ever, a truly mind bending experience. The staff and owners give the place a real good vibe, nice and... More

we flew from Tanga to Pemba with the price of 60$. From Chake Chake we took Dala- Dala going to Konde, and than another one, just passing the forest from where we went by foot until the Lodge. It is hard to find for the first time, but the villagers can guide you. When we arrived it was like an... More

Dear Oana O, Thank you so much for your overwhelmingly positive review of Swahili Divers and the Kervan Saray. We so enjoyed your stay. Your adventure getting to us sounds like a fun one. Generally people get a taxi from Chake Chake Airport but we welcome all comers by all means. We wish you and your friends many more adventures.... More

After climbing Kilimanjaro this was the perfect spot to chill out. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms airy and comfortable. The diving is excellent. for our three days we saw no other dive boats or divers. Visibility was 25-30 meters and the water warm (no wet suit for me. All dives were well planned to take... More

Dear George S, Thank you so much for visiting the Kervan Saray. It was our pleasure to have you stay with us with your family. Tanzania is a long way from the USA, and we appreiate that, but we would love to have you back in Pemba any time. Yours Sincerely Raf and Francisca More

Good place where to rest and forget life in western countries. The forest arrive very close to wonderful and lonely beach, this is the enviroment surrounding this lodge. There's no animation for babies so you can enjoy properly the sounds of nature (birds, bushbabies, waves, wind, etc.). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Usually the guest you can find... More

If you are looking for a remote place on an African Island with hardly any tourism, superb diving ,highly qualified staff, great hospitality and an almost unspoiled nature - that is the place to go. Hopefully the management and local politicians will continue to take steps against dynamite fishing in the area - it is not only embarassing to experience... More

Great experience, great people, relaxed and loving nature. A place where as well you could go Solo and enjoy it 100%. At the north of Pemba, quite apart of anywhere and perfect diving with not other boats and divers around in an amazing place with stoning Coral and Fish life.

Visited Pemba for a 5 day diving holiday. Kervan Saray Lodge is located in beautiful settings, which creates a real magical feel to it. It is very remote, but that is the charm of the resort. The only sounds you will hear are the natural ones, the sea, birds, bushbabies which brings a nice calm to the place The staff... More

Dear Malou A, Thank you so much for your review of Swahili Divers and the Kervan Saray Beach Lodge. It is so heartening to hear that the team looked after you in my absence. You are absolutely correct we are a simple and basic establishment with large cool rooms and Kevin is a gem in the dive centre. The fact... More
