firstly i would recommend a 4 x 4 to get to this place. The road is not 100% smooth, it has potholes and there is a gravel portion which might be difficult to navigate when it rains. The road getting there is dark, do not travel at night as there is livestock roaming around on the road.

What a wonderful experience. Our family of 4 has recently returned from a wonderful Christmas holiday at Umngazi. The staff are welcoming and so friendly. The atmosphere is one of 'home away from home'. The accomodation is simple, comfortable and clean, the views from the spa spectacular, the reliable nanny service enables parents to truly relax, the childrens' activities well thought...

My husband and I went Umngazi without any children to meet our friends for a holiday ( they have a 2 year old). We went without really knowing it was a family resort, but was more than happy whilst there as the children are so well occupied that it is mostly adults around the pool, and also during dinner, as...

We stayed at Umgazi in October 2010 and it goes down for me as the best resort worldwide that I have stayed at with children.
We flex from johannesburg to Umtata on Airlink and then it was a 2 hour drive. I think next time I would rather fly to Durban and take the charter flight. Our son was 14...

We have been going to Umngazi every year for the past 8 years with friends and we - and our children - have loved it every year. Not fancy but really relaxing and totally removed from anything unreal and glitsy. Our children loved it because it was a holiday where they renewed friendships (other than the families we went with)...

I was dubious. The place is, by South African standards, fairly pricey. It looked beautiful… different… interesting… so I thought I’d give it a go…
WOW! The place exceeded expectations in every single way. The setting is beautiful, between beautiful sloping hills that roll into a pristine sea and miles and miles of perfect beach. The African homesteads and huts...

This hotel has to be one of the best places from which to explore South Africa's magical Wild Coast. The setting is unforgettable. The lodge is separated from miles of unspoiled golden sandy beaches by a shallow, azure lagoon. Guests can travel free of charge from the hotel to the beach via a regular shuttle service. Atop the gently sloping...

We drove down from Durban easy pleasant drive (4-5 hours) arrived in time for lunch, the food is all included, 3 meals and 2 teas, its fresh and includes healthy...

A frist for our family and certainly not the last time we'll visit Umngazi River Bungalows. Thank you to all the amazing staff ... especially those that took the children fishing! They loved it! Food was good and the room we had was lovely, just on the banks of the river mouth. Keep up the cracking job and thanks for...
