A lovely hostel in a beautiful spot. Henny & MIke that run Jungle Monkeys are fabulous. They will go out of their way to help you out. If you can stay in the Monkey View room you will not regret it - floor to ceiling windows with a balcony & view across a stunning landscape.

We stayed one night at Jungle Monkey but we hung out there a lot. It's an awesome place, the staff are super friendly, the food is great and it's super chill. We stayed in the big dorm and it was clean, the bathrooms were clean, it was a good stay. Try the Thai chicken wraps!

Jungle Monkey is brilliant. I have not stayed at a better place in Africa. My room in the back section was nice and big with opening windows onto the garden and a variety of birds and monkeys to look at. The staff in all parts of the place were very friendly and chatted on. I stayed for the best two... More

My husband and I stayed here for five nights, and for the most part, it was fine. The staff everywhere from the kitchen help up the the owner and his lovely wife were simply wonderful. We stayed in the twin bedded room near the kitchen, and considering what we paid, it was not such a great deal. Unlike the interior... More

oh, jungle monkey backpackers... where to begin? For starters, they could not find our reservation. I was traveling with 3 male friends and we had reserved a four person room. Their reservation system consists of a spiral bound notebook. After going through the notebook, they could not find our booking and offered to put me in an all girl's dormitory... More

Good good day Nicole. Are you sure you stayed with us, at Jungle Monkey Backpackers, Port St Johns, Eastern Cape, South Africa? Please just make sure, because, firstly, all our dorms do indeed have ceilings, last year November all our dorms were refurbished and they are really nice according to the majority of our guests, considering also the price you... a great place in a beautiful setting. lotsa stuff to do in the area like hikes and sunset views. the kitchens/loos/chill areas were good and the camping finds you woken up by roosters in the morning, quite quaint :) the bar is great and everything is decorated with cool murals, quite a fun atmosphere

nice place to sink a few beers after a day out on the surf chasing sardines. Good food and nice atmosphere. Didn't stay there but accommodation looked like it best catered for back-packers (you get what it says on the tin)

TOPS: The main room is really beautiful and all the walls amazingly painted, so that's definitely a highlight here! Another highlight are the animals living on the property (geese, st. bernad, ...), the bar prices are absolutely ok and the rooms and bathrooms clean. I really liked the campfire in front of the bar, though we had to care for... More

We stayed here after spending a week working in the Transkei so that might have colored our view somewhat. We really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the Jungle Monkey. Very enjoyable live music in the evening at the bar and a fabulous breakfast in the morning. The room was decent enough. The Wild Coast is a beautiful place! We would... More
