I went to the Northwoods Inn restaurant with my parents for lunch. The burgers were good, but the rest of the food was not as described. A grilled ham and cheese sandwich turned out to be a cold ham sandwich on toast, the "home made chips" were obviously from a bag (think Ruffles!), and what was described as slab bacon... more

Our 4 day, 3 night ski vacation should have been a dream...The Northwoods Inn turned it into a nightmare. The hotel was built in 1926 which means they have had 83 years to at least touch up the paint but seem to prefer filthy, decrepit rooms with 3 inch gaps under doors that only close with a resounding slam (which... more

We had a magical ski/family vacation in Lake Placid. The hotel was right on Main Street offering parking and easy access to shops and the Olympic Arena. Our room was overlooking Mirror Lake, the mountains and we could see the ski jump. Having a kitchenette really helped with kids. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The restaurants offered family... more

We stayed at Northwoods Inn for a hockey tournament. I read all reviews on trip adivsor before going. I was prepared for the worst after reading some reviews. Much to my surprise, the hotel was not as bad as some have written. Yes, it is an older hotel that would greatly benefit from renovations, but on the hotels behalf, it... more

I must say, this hotel was a great value in a great location. I was trying to book a weekend getaway with my wife to Lake Placid. All of the hotels I called were expensive and not very nice on the phone. I called Northwoods and they offered me a suite at a great rate that overlooked the lake. It... more

Honestly, this hotel was very nice. My family went to Lake Placid for a hockey tournament and had a terrific experience. The hotel could not have been more accomodating for our team. We had a team party, and really good meals. Much better than others I've experienced in Lake Placid. The property does look renovated with new carpeting in the... more

Lake Placid is not a place you go with low expectations, whether you plan to enjoy a four star bed and breakfast or snug down in a miniature cabin at the side of a lake. It is scenery multiplied by luxurious accomodations or cute-as-a-button cottages multiplied by a mindset preparing for magic. So. There we stood at the desk of... more

My family recently spent a few nights at the Norhwoods Inn. The location was perfect for being able to enjoy the town and be able to go back to the hotel to take care of the needs of our little ones (ages 2 and 3 months). The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to... more

We have stayed in lots of hotels and this one is not on the top of our list. I do have to say, that without the new Tempurpedic beds, we would have been very discouraged, given the outdated bedding, furniture, etc. The rooms need alot of work (cracks in bathroom door and tiles, safety latch broken, lamp in sitting room... more

Even though I called to check if parking was provided and told yes, there is actually no guaranteed or handicap parking. They do not pay for municipal parking either The staff does not care about enforcing the rules for their lot, they knowingly let shoppers and others park in the HOTEL lot and offer NO suggestions as to where to... more
