We recently stayed here for the 4th of July and found staff to be friendly and helpful. The mattresses were very comfortable the room was clean however the hallways were stained and smelly the rooms so run down. I'll simply say it has great potential but has a long way to go.

The whole place smells, including hallway and room. The mattress was terrible. No hair dryer. Had to go to front desk for ice. Hair in tub and sink area upon arrival. The TV was the old tube type with poor resolution. Terrible shower head.. needs to be replaced. Great view for the 4th

The rooms in this hotel are clean; however, venture outside your door and it looks like terrible spills have been made on the rug in front of almost every room. Don't bother hanging a "Do Not Disturb" sign, the morning maids shout to each other from one end of the hall to the other. Thank goodness Lake Placid is a... More

The pros: the staff were friendly and helpful. The mattress was very comfortable. The room was spacious. It was nice having a balcony. It was a great location, right in the middle of town. The cons: I found an empty bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade, between the bed and the wall in the room when I checked in, I had... More

It's an old more rustic hotel but fits the Adirondacks nicely. The views are great. The owner and staff are very nice and accommodating!! I've stayed here several times already this year and have been treated consistently well.

Very nice hotel on Main Street. I got a walk in price of $80 for a suite. Location was really good, able to stroll to restaurants and bars, and just a sort walk away from the Olympic facilities. Parking out back with entrance to save trekking in snow.

This hotel is perfect for people wanting to come to lake placid to party ski and get away with out breaking the bank. There is a good bar/restaurant on the first floor and the location is prime for nightlife. The rooms were big and not bad plus It is also pretty close to the mountain. On the negative side the... This is my second review of the Northwoods Inn. Please read my first as it also contains some valuable information. I have stayed at this place many times over the last several years. I came to its defense on Yelp after I noticed that some people were rating it poorly with, what seemed to be, poor reason. However, I must... More

I booked this hotel because I was going to head out to Whiteface to ski and my girlfriend doesn't, I wanted her to be able to walk around town and have stuff to do while I was on the slopes. I also didn't want to spend $200+ a night. The Northwoods met that criteria so I don't want to be... More

I checked into room 617 January 31 and checked out February 11. Had a great view of the street and Mirror Lake activities. I could also catch a glimpse of the ski jumping area towers, and on a clear day, a tiny glimpse of the bobsled area. My room was comfy and warm, almost too hot, so I kept adjusting... More
