I never leave reviews but felt that this one was called for. Called one week in advance and was told that I would pretty much have the place to my self. After being told by Stewart (the guy who took my call)that since I was a military veteran I would be given an upgraded room with "extra facilities" meaning firplace... More

Dear Special Sargeant, This is Stuart and it was I who took your initial inquiry, gave you all the information about our property, town and all the options for a person travelling solo to eat and enjoy the village. I took your booking for our least expensive room with a promise of a free upgrade, a $68 plus tax per... More

Upon check-in we were met by the friendly co-owner, an Englishman who was full of useful information about the village of Lake Placid and tips on where to eat/drink. The room was exactly what we were expecting, very clean, spacious, comfortable and complete with beautiful frozen views across the lake. There was a large, flat-screen TV (it was never once... More

We stayed for a few days over the Christmas break. In all, it was a pleasant stay, and the hotel offers a lot of value for the money. The rooms and grounds were clean and there was very little noise from adjacent units. The location makes it easy to get to Whiteface and the downtown area. Our room had two... More

Stayed on a weekend in December to ski at Whiteface and could not have been more comfortable. The room was clean and up to date, wi-fi, flat screen, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Enjoyed the pool after skiing. Spoke with the owner for dining recommendations and they were on the mark. Will certainly stay here the next time I am... More

I was looking for a place w/fireplace on the Internet for Upstate NY when Wildwood on the Lake came up. I actually read a review on TripAdvisor. Had a problem w/TV remote, the owner showed within 10 mins & fixed it. Great service & value. Also loved that it has an indoor pool/hot tub/sauna, it was like 20F outside! Asked... More

Took a road trip up to Lake Placid for a fall weekend to do some leaf peeping, shopping and possibly Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mtn. This hotel was perfect for our group--three women, no kids. Room was clean, spacious, had a balcony with chairs and a fridge/microwave. The staff was very friendly...stopping to chat and make restaurant recommendations. We utilized the... More

My wife and I have been coming here for several years now. Very relaxing place to stay. Staff is friendly, place is very clean and grounds are very neat. We stayed in cabin 109 with a view of the lake. The lake fed pool is wonderful for children and you can barbeque on the grounds. And the price is very... More

I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked the room and ended up being pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It was right on a main street convenient to eateries yet it appeared to be nestled in the woods. The hotel had a rustic feel and the room was a good size with a refrigerator and microwave. There was a... More

Not a chain hotel, but really homey and friendly staff. Sorry I couldn't stay more than one night to enjoy the lake and free activities they provide for you. Room was rustic, clean and had a balcony overlooking the lake. Was very quiet and right outside of downtown Lake Placid for easy driving or walking access. Would definitely recommend.

We stumbled on this hotel last year when we attempted to make our anniversary reservations late and all of the chain hotels were booked. We decided to try the "Wildwood on the Lake" for at least one night. When we arrived, we found friendly faces and a clean room with an amazing view! The owners of the hotel are not... More
