We stayed one night at Le Vieux Cep before we took off on our exciting hike through Le Cirque. After a fascinating busride from the ocean the bus stopped almost outside the hotel. We stayed in a room at the gound level. When making the reservation we learned that it was mandatory to have the evening dinner at the hotel... More

After having read the reviews here, I became a bit worried. But I think most of the less favourable were from before the hotel had a makeover. The room (408) we were in was large and clean. The shower was very nice - indeed no mechanical ventilation - but a wall between the shower and the rest of the room,... More

The hotel is located very quiet close to the main street of Cilaos. Big car Parking is available. Welcome at the Reception was good and included a welcome drink. The room was quite small bout sufficient for the two-days stay. Well furnished and decorated. Relatively big bathroom with modern shower. Unfortunately there was no WiFi in the rooms, only at... The hotel has a nice and overall fairly luxurious feel to it, Nice rooms with (in our case) a spacious bathroom and rainshower, a balcony, big safe and a good bed. We had a good heater, which was a must as the temperature dropped heavily during the evening. Biggest downside was the lack of ventilation in the bathroom, which basically... More

We had heard that the rooms in this hotel were small. We were pleasantly surprised. Great views from the room up to the mountains. Lovely balcony. Good location for the town and the walking. We didn't have dinner in the hotel, but breakfast was good.

To be perfectly honest, the hotel can get away with quite a lot because the views are just breathtaking. The room was the least nice room we stayed in during our trip to the island; there is a lot of wood in the room so it was quite dark, the bathroom is dated, there was no air-conditioning... but everything is... While we were in Cilaos we stayed both in the Vieux Cep and the Chenets so this report can be read together with the other. Overall we are more likely to return to the Vieux Cep, maybe trying to get a bigger room. The Vieux Cep has a great location and is very attractive from the outside. It is very... More

We stayed here for 3 nights (although the middle night we stayed at the Gite up Piton de Neige). The room was realitively basic, but was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed/wanted. The hotel is very pretty and has loads of lovely Creole decorative features to the buildings. The staff are lovely and warm, even if your French is... More

We stayed in a superior family room for 3 nights - with 2 adults & 2 children. We had a first floor room with a balcony, which had terrific views of the mountains and the Piton de Neiges. Our room had a small upstairs loft that was big enough for 2/3 kids to sleep in. The room was fairly basic... More
