We stayed in the Bass Cottage in late October 2013 and found it peaceful, quiet with a stunning lakefront view. It was unseasonably cold during our stay and I was not prepared, but adapted quickly to the two space heaters provided to heat the 3 room cottage. The cottage was very clean, however the queen size bed was extremely uncomfortable. If... More

This was our second time visiting hide away cottages and everytime I come here the experience just gets better and better. As a busy businessman this is the break you need . It's a great place to escape all the hustle and bustle of our busy life's and just enjoy a beautiful view or sitting next to fire. I would... More

We stayed in the Overlook Cottage in September 2013. The overall stayed was fantastic, as there is a wide variety of things to do in the area. Unfortunately, the cottage was extremely dusty, and the last night there we did fight with a mouse who kept sneaking into the cottage. Also, the bathroom is through the 'master bedroom' which is... We stayed at the Birch cabin. Area was stunning and the colours were just beginning to emerge. Lots to do, but for two couples, the cabin was intimate. Canoe, paddle boat, row boat, firewood, and 's'mores. It was a good three nights. The lakeas beautiful in the early morning with the mist on the water, and we were really fortunate... More

Just returned from a weekend at Hideaway with my husband and two girls, aged 9 and 10. We loved it! We got to stay in the Summerhaven cabin and couldn't ask for anything better! Whatever you needed was there, except bath towels and hairdryer. The cottage is better in person than the pictures. The owners Kelly and Peter are so... More

We stayed in the Pine cabin which is located last in a line of 3 or 4 cabins and had total access to the peninsula. Fabulous! Our biggest decision all weekend was if we should sit lakeside on the bench (on the peninsula) or sit by the fire! No worries....very peaceful and quiet. The setting is wonderful. If I were... More

We would return here in a flash in the off season. Had a relaxing time in a rustic 2-person cabin that was very clean and comfortable. Even had WiFi and cable TV, not that they were really needed what with the lovely surroundings. The view of the lake was great. Our stay couldn't have been nicer. Probably wouldn't want to... More

Came for a week's stay in July. My husband had stayed here often as a child and wanted to revisit nearly 30 yrs later to see how it had changed, or not changed. Beautiful secluded spot on Lake Vanare, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in Cove 1 which had plenty of space for our family of 4. Very clean, had... More

Ever just need to get away for a bit? I needed a quick spring getaway to Lake George - didn't want a motel and too cold to camp, so I chose Hideaway Waterfront Cottages on Lake Vanare. Kelly helped me arrange my two night stay and was absolutely friendly and helpful. I rented Cove 2, which is heated and I... More

We only heard about this place because of a Living Social deal, and it is one of the best trips that my fiance and I have taken in the time that we have been dating. The location of the cottages is perfect -- they're right on the lake, and each one seems quite secluded and gives its own sense of... More
