I booked back in August 2015 with Thomas Cook to stay at The Sheraton hoping this International brand would assure reasonable standards. Before departure my concerns were raised by bad reviews and then the change of owners. I contacted Thomas Cook and was told I could not change hotels without paying a cancellation fee and was assured my package would... More

Sheraton have let go (literally) & the hotel is now known as Gambia Coral Beach Hotel & Spa. Situated on a wide sea facing site with three floors of accommodation set into the bluff with lowest floor at garden/beach level & top floor at normal ground level. We were upgraded on arrival to a perfectly fit for purpose but tired... More

This hotel changed from The Sheraton to The Coral Beach mid December 2015. The travel agent did not advise of the change and is still being sold as the Sheraton. We booked on the basis of the quality international brand, but it's been left in a poor state and needs a refurbishment. If it weren't for the friendly staff, it... More

This hotel has recently undergone a changeover of ownership which we picked up on via the reviews before our departure from the UK. Our agent (Thomas Cook) repeatedly denied that were "problems" and assured us that all was OK, when in fact they knew about the problems from their own staff - not good. However, we did enjoy our stay.... More

Nicely situated on the beach and about 15 mins ride from the strip. The times that I have been there its been pretty quiet and not a lot going on. Bar food is simple and not particularly good value. Rooms are built in groups in the grounds and in local style. Decor is not too bad.

This hotel had gone from bad to badder, the food is disgusting, the rooms are filthy, the rooms are also very dangerous, live light switches, sockets, unbelievable, the management are appalling, I say the management as the general staff are very pleasant, the AI package is a total joke you wait for a drink for about 20 to 30 minutes... We booked as Sheraton and arrived when it changed to Coral Beach. Not sure what the whole name/ownership story is but this place needs a major face lift and some staff training. It feels rundown, the drinks are bottom shelf and the very average food is overpriced. The grounds are stunning and this place could really be world class if... More

I first travelled to Gambia 30 years ago with my wife. Then we stopped at what is now the Laico Atlantic in Banjul. We both wanted to go back with our daughters to show them Gambia. So we booked the same hotel. Sadly for us the tour operator changed the hotel. So we arrived at the Sheraton. That ruined the holiday... More
