I went to the Kairaba for 4 nights on business. It seemed like the best hotel and had good reviews. As I am a woman travelling on her own for the first time in Gambia I asked for an airport pick up from the hotel. When the flight times changed they were informed immediately, however, the flight incurred further delays... More

We have been coming to Gambia every year since 1999 but this is the first time we have stayed at the Kariaba. We have our own house. The hotel is a haven of peace and tranquility, the only interruption is the wail of the magnificent peacock calling to his rival or maybe trying to impress his three lady friends.small birds... We returned to Kairaba in April having also visited in December. Please give the management a chance it takes time for new ideas to take place especially in a country that is being affected by the Ebola. There are no cases of Ebola in Gambia. We were surprised by the small changes on our visit in December but don't let... More

Once we paid to upgrade our room we had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 weeks at the Kairaba. The room and pool staff are lovely & the security guys and gardeners were brilliant & very knowledgeable which made up for a very poor start. We paid Thomas Cook for an upgraded room - which turned out to be overlooking the entrance... More

You wake up to the sound of chirping bird including peacocks and a troop of monkeys. The friendly staff were so helpful and the pool was clean. The down side is the wifi only works in the lobby and the mosquitoes feast on you while there in the lobby.

I came to Gambia for a conference and we stayed here. Very good venue for a conference - large and therefore apt to be somewhat impersonal. Lots of interesting trees in the garden. It has a great great location - I went to see someone staying at Lemon Creek and realised even though less charming, the location was fabulous -... More

Dear Valued guest, Thank you for your kind words regarding our hotel, staff and services. You are right that internet challenges were due to the unexpectedly large number of users during the conferences happening at that period. It was refreshing to get feedback about our conferencing facilities as well. Reviews such as yours serve as a moral booster and confirm... More

The only thing I'll give to the hotel is location. Be guided when checking in because they don't allow visitors to visit your room and charge you £30 if you insist, the annoying part is they don't tell you all these when checking in. When it happened to me I was very frustrated and told them they should have told... More

After last years visit we were not sure what to expect this year due to the number of negative reviews. Yes the hotel had closed a number of restaurants and cut out the evening happy hour by the pool.but with the low number of guests staying this was perfectly understandable. The kingfisher was opened for breakfast, pool bar for lunch... More

Dear Valued guest, it is most refreshing to read your review and such a relief to realize that some of our repeat guests especially do understand our predicament. We do have an adequate number of restaurants open to serve our guests serving the same fare that our guests have been accustomed to. New menus were introduced 1st of April taking... More

The hotel lives up to it's billing of 'The Grand Old Lady of The Gambia'. Facilities are very good although showing a few signs of age, although the beach is non - existent. In theory the bars and restaurants should be plentiful, but when I stayed (10th to 24th April), only the pool restaurant and bar (during the day) and... More

Dear Valued guest, We thank you for reviewing our hotel. Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for the compliments regarding our hotel, grounds, staff and services.
