4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

On returning to the Kairaba after 10 years not much had changed. Very good staff and the grounds and pool are being well looked after. The rooms need a bit of updating and the food was not as good as it has been. The food has now mainly African and the a la carte retaraunt was empty most nights. The... More

Want to escape the winter blues, then Gambia offers good hospitality, food and plenty of sun. Great hotel with friendly staff, lovely cocktails served by the pool. Very different to European standards but the aim here is to relax and enjoy a good night sleep.

We have been to this hotel three times. I can honestly say that I have never been so relaxed on a holiday as when we have been here. Nothing is to much trouble, and all of the staff are so friendly. When we arrived this year we had the best room we have had yet, location wise. It was right... More

Having just returned from another fabulous holiday in the Gambia, I would just like to make one comment about my stay at the Kairaba, its a lovely hotel friendly staff always there to help, but they have decided to do away with the happy hour that used to be from 5.30 to 6.30 in the evening, which was great ,having spent a lovely... While the hotel continues to offer good accommodation, spotlessly clean rooms and a great breakfast we were surprised at the low uptake of guest rooms. Something needs to be done to reverse this trend and quickly or I fear for their future prospects. One suggestion is a re think to the changes made to the pool bar happy hour. In... More

We spent two relaxing weeks at this medium sized hotel staying in a ground floor deluxe room overlooking the beautifully maintained gardens. The hotel is beginning to show its age and a little TLC is required, we had one or two minor maintenance problems but they were fixed within a few hours of us raising them. Because of the Ebola... We have returned from a week staying in a superior delux room. This is our 6th Visit and the hotel is a great as ever, I read some reviews online and do wonder if these people understand that this is Africa and a 3rd world country just a few meters outside the hotel grounds, this hotel is excellent in every... We visited the kairaba after spending two days in Tendaba camp (a camp we will never visit again!) and enjoyed the luxury of the Presidential Suite. All the staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, with peacocks adding to the general ambiance of this luxurious location. Sadly,... More

we have stayed at this hotel for several years and this year the new management have made changes and none we could see for the best. As in previous review the happy hour changes are not really beneficial and for the first time we never Drank at the hotel. Some areas do need attention, the sunbeds mattresses badly stained and... Oh Dear, I have just returned from another stay at The Kairaba and to my dismay something is definitely going wrong. Yes the Ebola crisis is having an effect with hotel occupancy down by 50% but this new Senior Management team seems intent on removing the fun factor from this hotel and one wonders whether they are more focussed on...
