We ended up here as either over booking or error in booking with expected hotel. Unclear which. This hotel is of average standard but rooms decent size. Usual problem with thin walls which seems to prevail in Ethiopia. Rooms tired but adequate. Water hot. Food is buffet. Ok but not great. WiFi confined to one small area. Staff very friendly.... This split level hotel is quite nicely appointed inside and has a great restaurant. The rooms are quirky but comfortable, there was no wifi in the room, and I had a broken shower, so I don't feel I got great value for money. The staff, however, were excellent and let me charge my phone and laptop at reception given that... More

Like other reviewers we ended up in this hotel because the one originally booked had overbooked for the busy Christmas/ New Year. First impressions were not good. We arrived for lunch which was overpriced of poor quality and with a low level of service. Such was our experience that the group refused to eat there again except for the included... More

If you're looking for a fancy hotel with great amenities, you won't like the Roha. However, if you're open to a traditional hotel with amazingly friendly staff, you'll love it. The rooms are basic, but I had hot water, so I was grateful for that. There's a fan very handily turned on via a bedside switch. Staff are extremely friendly... More

We only ended up in the Roha because the hotel we had booked couldn't locate our booking. Looking at the other reviews, this seems to happen regularly. In our room the shower didn't work. Not because of water shortage but because the tap was broken. By the time they had fixed it we had missed the sunset and the water... More

We checked in here after another hotel we had booked turned us away. The food is pretty okay although I would avoid French toast. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are pretty bare and the lobby wifi is iffy, but that happens everywhere. The building interior is the best part: local stone with great decorations. Needs a major update.

The friendliest staff in the land, especially the Front Desk. I don't know why anybody ever complains about decor in Ethiopia. Did they go there on an Interior Design spotting trip? This place is set in one of the most spectacular places in the world and reviewers complain that the bathroom is tired or they don't like the curtains?! Extraordinary.... More

This hotel is considered upscale in the guidebooks. We found it tired and somewhat dirty. The room was tired; the bathroom was in need of minor repairs. The room fan wouldn't rotate. The restaurant was fine for breakfast. We had a great spicy omelet, the best omelet of the trip. The front desk is helpful.

A good hotel to spend a couple of nights while taking in the local sights. Everything worked as it should even though the room decor was a bit tired.Well positioned with pleasant grounds and plenty of bird-life. The dining room is a well-decorated, double height room opening onto a terrace.

Spent 2 nights here at the start of our 2 week tour. Would certainly benefit from a bit of tlc and some investment. The hotel has a lot of potential, as it is in a great location, but is very tired looking. Rooms are a bit shabby and it felt a bit neglected. Staff were generally lovely, and very obliging....
