This is a decent place to stay. The setting is certainly great. The beer is cold. The wifi works in reception. I slept well. I wouldn't say that the rooms are well appointed: they are basic but functional. Remember this is deep in rural Ethiopia - it's hard to rate the place on a global scale, but it mostly worked... The best thing about this hotel are the great views from the terrace. Unfortunately, although the views can be enjoyed from the balcony in the room (although there are no chairs), they can only be enjoyed from the seating area on the large roof terrace in the early morning and end of the afternoon as no shade is provided at... As the other reviews say this hotel does offer stunning views from the balconies of the rooms. Other than this the hotel is very basic but adequate. Unfortunately the rooms are smoking rooms so if you are a non-smoker the smell f stale smoke may bother you. The food was good and the chef was attentive. Wifi is available in... More

We had an absolute great time staying at Mountain View Hotel in Lalibela. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. The hotel model is stunning. Make sure you check out the sitting area on terrace of the hotel.

The Mountain View is just fabulous. There was nothing negative at all. The food is great and the people are sweet. Of course the view is spectacular. We were a group of 12 on a humanitarian trip. We were treated like family. And the coffee is great!!

Well the name does not lie. This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. I LOVE THE VIEWS. Seriously, sitting on the terrace having a drink is simply stunning and you can see Lammergeiers at eye level soaring over the Rift Valley is simply put breath-taking. The rooms are clean and have a small balcony which overlooks... More

Well, it deserves it. The view, morning or evening, is by far the best thing about the Mountain View Hotel. Sitting watching the sunset with a gin and tonic - and they have Schweppes tonic, which is not always easy to find in Ethiopia - is the ideal end to a day spent in Lalibela's churches. If anything the morning,... More

This is a comfortable, well-run hotel with spectacular views. The rooms are well-furnished with good beds and bathrooms. The restaurant is large and offers a good range of dishes both a la carte and buffet. There is a very good wifi

This is a great setting, but that is all. Our room was ok, but the toilet leaked and flooded the bath several times. The view terrace is fantastic, but few chairs and one umbrella to shade from the sun. The people in the restaurant were sweet, but the food was below average. A little competition and this hotel will have... More

If you travel to Ethiopia (and you should), you must visit the ancient religious centre of Lalibela where King Lalibela, with the help of angels apparently, carved 11 churches out of solid rock back in the 1200s. And if you do the best address, in fact the only one I can recommend is the Mountain View Hotel. It is the... More
