Well, it deserves it. The view, morning or evening, is by far the best thing about the Mountain View Hotel. Sitting watching the sunset with a gin and tonic - and they have Schweppes tonic, which is not always easy to find in Ethiopia - is the ideal end to a day spent in Lalibela's churches. If anything the morning,... More

This is a comfortable, well-run hotel with spectacular views. The rooms are well-furnished with good beds and bathrooms. The restaurant is large and offers a good range of dishes both a la carte and buffet. There is a very good wifi

This is a great setting, but that is all. Our room was ok, but the toilet leaked and flooded the bath several times. The view terrace is fantastic, but few chairs and one umbrella to shade from the sun. The people in the restaurant were sweet, but the food was below average. A little competition and this hotel will have... More

If you travel to Ethiopia (and you should), you must visit the ancient religious centre of Lalibela where King Lalibela, with the help of angels apparently, carved 11 churches out of solid rock back in the 1200s. And if you do the best address, in fact the only one I can recommend is the Mountain View Hotel. It is the... More

The views from the hotel are magnificent. The terraces expansive and the feeling of spaciousness wonderful. Bedrooms are adequate; very clean and hot water supply copious. Food is disappointing and basic. Wifi works which is a plus

Hot water, clean rooms, comfy bed, wifi in the lobby, great views. That's all you can ask for in Lalibela. This is not a luxury hotel by any means, but it will suit your needs for a few days. Food at the restaurant is not that good, instead we ate at Ben Abeba which is an 8 min walk up... More

Clean and pleasant room with your own private patio with amazing views. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant has good food and several options. The quiet and the view are why you should stay

This hotel is located in a magnificent location on top of a ridge looking out over the beautiful surrounding landscape. The terrace is a brilliant place to have a beer while enjoying the fantastic sunsets. Food was pretty good with quite a bit of variety too. Service was always friendly and helpful. Room was fine (with great views too) with... More

Good hotel. What was good: * free wifi in the lobby area; * clean rooms; * white towels and linenines, plenty of hot water * FANTASTIC PANORAMIC VIEWS; * quiete and calm place. Some issues: * rooms a little bit outdated; * electricity breakdowns and no generator, they use candles (well, not a big deal, it's romantic) :) * some... More

I have had a chance to visit Lalibela almost after 2 years with a group of 15 people from the U.S. For 2 nights we have stayed at Mountain View Hotel, Lalibela. The view from our balcony was amazing and the room was comfortable with 24 hours hot water. The service was excellent as well. I Owe big thanks for... More
