It's the location of this hotel that makes it such a lovely place to stay...right on the lake, with lovely gardens. The rooms are basic and could be cleaner eg our floor was very dirty and it could easily have been cleaned. The price was high (150 Birr) compared to other places we stayed, but the location saved the day!... more

This hotel is way past its prime. The curtains, mattresses are from the 60's and look like that's the last time they were laundered. Bed-bugs. Beware of bed-bugs or some creepy-crawlies in the beds. The Ghion has a lovely setting right on the lake, but I had to see 4 rooms before I took one. Of course this is a poor country, and the hotel is not up to First World standards, but a friend who was already booked in said it was clean (no bugs) and the staff did as good as possible... more
