It is hard to find anything positive about the rooms of this hotel: they are old and worn out. If you are planning to spend a lot of time in the hotel room, this definitely is not the one to choose. There are, however, some good things about this hotel: the lobby has old-fashioned, decorated wooden ceiling, giving it nice... More

This hotel has only one thing going for it: location. The rooms are worn and full of fleas and insects, and there always seems to be something broken. The restaurant is surprisingly good, however, and the location is lovely.

For some reason this hotel seems to be very popular with international visitors. However, I found it grubby and out-dated, poorly lit with cheaply carved wooden furniture and furnishings out of the 1960s. The corridors are lined with ragged strips of burgundy ‘carpet’, the rooms are old-fashioned and in a poor state of repair. Mine had a rigged up electric... More

Decent enough place with a great location close to Lake Tana. The water is hit and miss which is annoying but not the end of the world. The view of the main street is nice and if you are on the 1st level (what we call 2nd level in NA) you can see the Lake. The restaurant is decent as... More

Where does one start about this place. We had booked a twin room, and yes that's what we got, but the headboard had been sawn in half to make to, the table was in half, this was taking all to literally. Toilets, well 50 50 chance of them working. Running water not at all times and hot water was a... More

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff is very rude and the place is very noisy. The toilet had a broken seat and didn't flush. The rugs are stained. The window curtains didn't cover anything. I hated that place and will never recommend. Right after we saw the room, the staff said we couldn't get a... More

The rooms are a bit tired, but apparently it's being refurbished. The WiFi was blisteringly fast which was a refreshing change (the router was right outside our room). We had hot water for the showers the whole time we were there, and breakfast was provided in the room rate each morning. Reception wasn't that friendly or very much help when... More

It's in a central position, near the lake. Phone 058 220 1436 for reservation. It's one of the older hotels in town, with about 60 rooms. Currently (Nov 2011) it's undergoing refurbishment one space at a time, and will probably be quite pleasant when done. It has a comfortable-looking lounge area, lots of wood - and that makes it just... More

Certainly it is not the best option to spend a few nights in Bahar Dar in Dib Anbessa but for one night should be ok. Rooms are tidy and clean but could be more spacy. Bathrooms are ok, at least you have hot water all the time and clean towels (they change them everyday). Breakfast is included in price but... More

Stayed here two weeks with our Habitat for Humanity group (hi guys!!). Bahir Dar has only one hotel that might meet north am/euro standards, the Kuriftu, but do you really want to live in luxury with the standards outside of the hotel grounds at such stark contrast? The Dib Ambessa is on par with most other 'moderate' hotels in BD... More
