After seeing one of the room, we decided to go back to Asmara, notwithstanding the long and difficult drive; we ate at the restaurant - ask for fish and drink beer not impossible pseudo-italian wines - and was barely decent. It was a real pity because the hotel and the restaurant could be very pleasant if managed the right way.... More

We came to Massawa from Asmara for one night. Given the state of our hotel in Asmara I wasn’t expecting anything better in Massawa. The weather was hot and humid so it was important to have a room with a working A/C. The first room they gave us was small, and we had requested a suite. So they showed us... More

Good hotel! Just near the old town! My room was good with AC and good bed. The bathroom was ok. Breakfast in restaurant was good as well. Primo Giovani the owner is a very nice guy and is the owner of Albergo Italia in Asmara too. Thy organize boat trips to the Dahlak islands, don't miss them!

I stayed here for one night in August 2014 while visiting Massawa. It was so hot that we literally hid in our room for a few hours sleeping after we arrived because the AC was nice and cool. The hotel is very pretty. Outside of the rooms it is stiflingly hot everywhere. The wifi was a bit hit and miss.... More

The Grand Dahlak hotel is conveniently located at the top of Tualud island, right before the causeway connecting it to Batse island, where the Old Town is situated, just five minutes away. As there were quite few people in the hotel I could land only a double despite being alone, so probably booking in advance can be needed, the prices... More

This hotel is supposedly the best in town, therefore busy both with locals and foreigners. However, the property is hugely disappointing: - Reception staff is numerous, but all they do is fill in registers and forms. They seem to love their administration rather than trying to make their clients happy. - My bedroom was decently spacious, yet the A/C didn't... More

Dirty room with a view of an algae and debris filled pool! The food was basic and its best to go down the street for lunch and dinner. The City has wonderful historical sights and this is not one of them. Staff did not care whether we needed anything and stood around talking to each other! It does not cost... More

this hotel looks great in web....in reality is worst , but have to take in consideration that massawa was a city heavily destroyed by war.... Unfortunately the most beautiful part of the hotel was closed so, we had to stay in the most recent but less characteristic part....anyway is best hotel in Massawa and have a nice salt water pool... The hotel is probably the best you can find in Massawa but it is certainly not first-world. There are plenty of people at the front desk but between the five of them you can't get a piece of paper moved and they are not responsive to complaints or requests for assistance. The rooms are spacious and my aircon and fan... More

When you enter the hotellobby you have really feel that you be in a Grand Hotel. The staff at the reception is very friendly but incompetent in case of complaints. The beds are clean, the rest of the room less clean. Just the bathroom can be in terms of cleanliness to fishing to be desired. Many valves were damaged. Also,... More
