I was surprised when arriving in the rain because there is no covered driveway at this hotel. You are deposited at the curb near a covered stairway that leads up to the lobby. We stayed here for 1 night after a trip back from Europe. I got a rate of $90/night through the priceline name your own price feature, which I'm glad for. This is one of those hotels that really serves only one purpose and that is a place to stay if you have an early flight out of JFK (its an airport hotel, plain and simple). If you have to stay near JFK this is the spot. This is a clean facility. Excellent bed and air conditioning. Well managed. Staff is remarkably friendly. Housekeeper, front desk, or dining room personnel, you name it, they had a great "ready to help" attitude. more

Granted, there is no good way to stay near JFK. The shuttles can't come in to pick you up, although they can drop you off in front of the terminal....Do note that you have to take the Air Train from the terminal to the Federal Circle stop, where the shuttle picks you up.
