I was a guest at a wedding about a year ago. We were very excited about going to this lovely sight. Yes I can say the gardens and the house is lovely. But the service and staff are not. You could not find a server if your life deepened on it. Once you are ushered into the dining hall you... More

Unbelievable food. Had sea bass with shell fish. Caeser salad was terrific. Apple tart had wonderful fresh apples. One of the best meals I've ever had. Ambiance couldn't be better. Arrive before sunset so you can see the grounds. Server was not well trained.

Oheka Castle successfully gives the feeling of staying at a historic castle (which it is). Our room had a very annoying high-frequency/high-pitch noise, but the front desk had no problem with giving us another room. We were given close to none information at check-in - when we went to ask them what was happening at the Castle, we were told... More

Driving up to the front gate, you immediately notice the plaster peeling away from the walls on either side. The long tree-lined stone drive reminded us of Versailles. The hotel can be impressive if you don't look too closely. The room we were given, was unacceptable - the carpet was old, and needed to be replaced, or at least, re-stretched.... More

My Fiancé proposed to me on Valentine's day at Oheka castle... It was a surprise beyond all surprises. We had an Amazing dinner in the Charlie Chaplin room where the owner Gary came in and greeted us, then, after dinner, my Fiancé told me that he wanted to give me a tour of the Amazing Carnegie suite which he asked... We were in Huntington to attend a concert and we came across Oheka Castle. The entrance to the hotel is stunning. The check in is a bit impersonal in a side office, but that did not deter from the beautiful staircase. We had a standard room which was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The bed was very... More

My fiance proposed in the back garden 2 weeks ago, beautiful setting for such a gesture! The proposal package included dinner, wine, champagne, rose petals strewn on the bed in our upgraded room, chocolate covered strawberries: the whole 9 yards. We even met Gary while admiring the art bedecking the halls, and he was very friendly. Dinner service was excellent;... More

We had seen this place listed in one of our books about historic homels We had seen this hotel listed in one of our historic hotels of America books and decided to stay there for one night with our daughter on our way to the Hamptons from NYC. We were late getting there for our dinner reservation since we were... More

This review is for the Bar/Restaurant - went here for Mother's day dinner and was not impressed with the service nor the food. Had a reservation at 6:15 and when we got there, nobody was paying attention to us. Hubby was at the bar waiting for a maitre d but none. Finally after 10mins, one of the server asked him... More

The grounds are beautiful/breathtaking. The staff is great. We were at the Castle for a wedding and really enjoyed the outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The food, which I presume was cooked by the hotel chef was good. It is an extremely unique setting. The library was a real treat. I would highly recommend a visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OHEKA CASTLE is a majestic historic mansion located on Long Island's famed Gold Coast between New York City and The Hamptons. This French-style chateau is the second largest private residence in America and has undergone $30 million in restoration to transform this stately home back to its former 1920's grandeur. OHEKA is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and boasts 32 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites on the upper floors where guests can sleep like royalty. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful formal gardens designed by the Olmsted Brothers, play an 18-hole round of Golf or a game of tennis at the Cold Spring Country Club, take a mansion tour and learn about the rich history of OHEKA and Otto Kahn, or dine in the Bar and Restaurant before retiring to your uniquely designed guestroom for an in-room massage. Breathtakingly beautiful, OHEKA CASTLE is admired around the world as a premier venue for exquisite weddings and gala celebrations and has been the backdrop to many prominent film and photo productions. The refined European atmosphere and the feeling of being transported back in time to the decadence of the Roaring Twenties consistently gives OHEKA the recognition as one of New York's finest estates.Profile photo courtesy of Infinity Photography. ... more   less
