I decided to escape from Manhattan one weekend and ended up staying the night at the Country Squire in Hudson. I stayed in the double room with the private patio. I loved this place. Paul was a very nice host. The house is decorated beautifully. My room was great. The bathroom was huge with a clawfoot tub. Paul recommended an... more

First let me say that I do not care for B&B's. However, as the place we were going to stay had heating problems, and they referred us to this place, we booked here at the very last minute. I completely agree with the other reviews that it is modern and yet classic and not at all flowery or "antiquey." The... more

Proprietor Paul is one of the most attentive innkeepers I have ever met. Most of the time my husband and I travel, we stay at B&Bs and this place was more than special. Beautifully restored Victorian house but minus all the flowery fluff of most inns. Service is superb--breakfast was great, a variety continental. Delicious breads and quiche served every... more

It was a wonderful B and B experience. We occupied the Queen Suite for two nights. It was richly decorated and I fell in love with the bedroom furniture in our room. The mattress was sooo comfortable, I did not want to get up. The bathroom was big and bright. The office/sitting room allows for two computers and contains a... more

This is a great place a little over 2hrs from NYC. It is one of the first places you encounter when you enter the town and there is a parking lot for your car. You are greeted by Paul who makes you feel welcome immediately. The rooms are spacious and clean with that old Victorian atmosphere. There is a fireplace... more

Made a reservation here on a whim--it was a last-minute weekend getaway. I agree with the comments about the inn's decor--it is tastefully decorated without being too knick-nacky, or flowery and lacey. The setting is quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful room. Again, it was sparsely furnished, but the bed was very comfortable, but combined with the B&B's overall... more

My friend and I met for a get-away. We stayed at the Country Squire in Hudson, NY. Paul made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped into the B&B. The house is full of interest and care without being overdone. The B&B reflects the essance of the new Hudson. Hudson is transitioning to a grand historic slice of city... more

We decided to stop in Hudson on our way north to the Adirondacks, and became smitten. The Country Squire is ideally situated two blocks from the main drag and has been decorated with refreshing, non-traditional B & B choices (no lace or chintz - yay!). Paul was a great host - full of suggestions of where to eat, neat houses... more

We came to Hudson from Brooklyn for the weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The Country Squire Inn was a wonderful find. The proprietor, Paul M. Barrett, was extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful. By chatting with him we learned that he is also very knowledgeable about building preservation, and you can tell it... more

I stayed at the Country Squire for a week at the beginning of June, 2007. Paul, the owner, greeted me by name and had my room ready. The entire establishment is what I love about B&Bs (tastefully appointed, smaller, personal touches), and none of the things that I don't like (some places are very kitchy and knick-knack oriented, floral prints,... more
