Expecting to bushcamp because of the ten-hour drive down the eastern side from North to South Luangwa, we were told about the existence of this place. In order to get there from North Luangwa, you drive through a spectacular forest on the banks of the river (still in North Luangwa), which itself must be one of the most beautiful drives... More

We had a great stay at the Luangwa Wilderness Lodge. We had lots of activities planned on a busy schedule, and the staff at the lodge always made sure that our food was prepared promptly. The tent we stayed in was very comfortable with views of hippos, crocodiles, and birds from the door of our tent. The menu and the... More

Yes indeed Luangwa Wilderness Lodge is in a beautiful setting. Prior to departing we were in email contact with Tony Moore. In fact we had fully paid up full board and lodging into his bank account, inclusive of camp fees, for 5 people. After 8 hours travelling we were welcomed by the camp manager Mathews Phiri, who called us aside... More

We planned to stay here for 2 nights in August 2012 during our self-drive tour of Zambia. After some trouble getting through by email or phone, we eventually had an email from Tony to say it was OK for us to camp there. What he didn't say was that the Lodge was closed. It appears deserted, as though everyone left... More

The Park is situated north of the famous South Luangwa N.P. Even though Luambe Park was officially declared the status of a National Park in 1938 it remained underdeveloped and was best known to poachers! In the 90ies, the number of animals and species was highly decimated. But since the Luangwa Wilderness Lodge was established on the river banks of... More

If you want to see Hippos and be sent to sleep with their noctural groaning then this is the place. We awaoke with 1 outside our tent.Staff very pleasant and friendly. Food... More

I never understood wildlife conservation, appreciated bird watching and enjoyed hippo-orchestra. That changed at Luangwa Wilderness Lodge, driven and led by Chris and Tony. I came to South Africa dreaming of leopard skin, now I sink in guilt touching leather. I enjoyed the great outdoors observing nature, taking things slow and easy, no electricity, no phone, no internet, no tv,... More
