Excellent accomodations with wi-fi in the tents, great food and a wonderful choir. The staff was very nice and helpful. Anita and Peter, the managers gave us a warm welcome. I arrived with stomach problems and Anita went out of her way to get me medicine so that I could enjoy our stay. We enjoyed meeting Grant, who owns the... More

Chiawa was our first stop in Zambia, and did it ever set a high bar. Everything went smoothly, from pickup at the tiny airstrip to the boat ride that finally whisked us to Chiawa's sister camp further up the Zambezi River. In between all was magical from sunrise to sunset. Accomodation (river view, hippos and crocs included, of course) was... More

The young bush pilots must have chuckled and winked to one another at our excitement to be able to see hippos and crocs from the small plane before we landed on the air strip. Little did we know the Lower Zambezi is littered with them and so much more. When we approached the dock of Chiawa Camp, we were warmly... More

Chiawa was my choice to introduce the Zambian safari experience to my wife Liz, who had never been to Zambia before (I had stayed at Old Mondoro several years ago and loved it). The location of the camp on the banks of the Zambezi is magical, and Peter, Anita and their wonderful staff looked after us extremely well and made... More

Chiawa Camp was the 4th camp of our long honeymoon in Botswana and Zambia. It is hard to know what to start with, as we could speak about Chiawa and its extraordinary people for a very long time. Our first memories are the camp’s choir lead by Joel. My wife being a keen singer, she was really touched by the... More

Chiawa was our introduction to the Lower Zambezi. We were visiting here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and they treated us royally. We had a fabulous special dinner on our last night at the camp. I won't say more about it so as to not spoil it for others but it was fantastic. The staff at camp were all extremely... More

In 4 visits to Africa, this camp stands out as the best. Why? So many reasons: brilliant guides; amazing staff; variety of activities; beautiful setting; fantastic food; and beautiful surprises. Oh, yes, and the animals..... We also loved our interactions with the other guests, all of whom were interesting. Trip #5 will definitely include a return to Chaiwa!

Agree completely with all other reviews. This is a traditional camp with a long history of excellence. The guides here are simply the best and the camp is blessed with outstanding support staff. Everyone knew my name within one day. We felt well taken care of and safe at all times. The staff and guides are very conscientious. Anita and... More
