We had high expectations as Chiawa is described as one of the best camps in Southern Africa so it had a lot to live up to. It did; and some. Highlights included seeing 3 leopards and 2 cubs within 12 hours of arriving; enjoying a magical barbecue at "Bedrock" under the African stars; adventuring for an epic 8 hour drive... More

Third trip to Africa, first trip to Zambia ,we stayed 2 nights at the rustic bush camp Old Mondoro before transferring up river to Chiawa for 5 nights. This trip itself is a great experience we saw lots of birds, hippo's and a huge elephant right on the river bank.Tip if you sitting at the front of the boat wear... More

Our family of five from DC and NYC (grown children ages 28, 25, and 21) , first ever trip to Africa, first safari, couldn't have dreamed of a more glorious experience than our time at Chiawa. The accommodations were wonderful; the food and dining settings inspired, especially the breakfast circle at sunrise. On our first night in Africa, fresh off... More

The location of Chiawa Camp is truly breathtaking and beautiful. The mighty Zambezi is memorable whether you are on it, canoeing or fishing, or looking at it from the luxurious comfort of your tents. Genuine warmth and professional attitude of all management and staff put us in a relaxed state of mind throughout our stay. This was just as well... More

Chiawa camp knows how to impress from the minute you land at the tiny airport and are whisked riverside to hop aboard the short boat ride to camp. It is an entrance that is unsurpassed by any camp I have been to and from the river gave me a taste of just how beautiful Lower Zambezi NP is. Being family... More

I arrived at Chiawa, via the Royal airport. Chiawa had been highly recommended to me, so I was anxious to arrive at the lodge, to see if it was as good as I had heard. Well, it met my expectations and then some! Upon arrival, after settling in, I was treated to a lovely lunch on board a pontoon boat.... More

Our family spent three days at Chiawa Camp and it was one of the finest experiences that we have enjoyed anywhere in the world. From the moment we arrived until we departed the level of service was extraordinary. We experienced all we could in three days and will be back for sure in the future. The location provided the ability... More

We were here 3 years ago and returned in June -We love being on the magical Zambezi and being able to view game from trucks as well as boats and canoes. The staff at both Chiawa and the Cummings family other camp- Old Mondoro-are the best--friendly and helpful. Guides and trackers have the most astounding ability to spot game. These... More

We arrived at Chiawa after a few night staying at Old Mondoro. The two camps share the same high standards of hospitality and cuisine, and similar beautiful settings on the banks of the Zambezi (with a night-time chorus of hippos!). Our 'tent' was luxurious, spacious and comfortable, and we welcomed the early morning tea with our wake-up call! The guides... More
