This was a family holiday intended to give eager children their first true wildlife experience. Couldn't have started better, with two elephants feeding on mangoes immediately outside the chalets shortly after settling in on the first night. Grandfather + 4 grandchildren + son & daughter-in-law made up the 7-person group occupying three of the 10 or so chalets at the... More

We were recommended Kafunta Safaris and we were not disappointed! The lodge overlooks a beautiful flood plain where you can watch the African wildlife - hippos wallowing, baboons playing, giraffes gracefully moving across the plains and much more. The accommodation is delightful and we loved the relaxed, yet professional feel of Kafunta. The staff will go out of their way... More

Thanks for your review of Kafunta and we're happy that you had a great safari experience at the lodge. The South Luangwa is a great park for wildlife viewing. Normally leopards can be elusive but in the Luangwa Valley you have a excellent chance of some good sightings. Wild dogs roam widely so are definitely a great sighting, especially with... More

Kafunta was our third of four lodges during our two week trip to South Luangwa. We had already stayed at Thornicroft and Wildlife Camp before moving to Kafunta, and were waiting to see what Kafunta would bring. The reception by Leandi was wonderful. She was very friendly and very welcoming, as were all the staff. The lodge follows the same... More

Thank you for your comprehensive review of Kafunta River Lodge. The South Luangwa is a game-rich park and the lodge's position, overlooking a flood plain, means there's always plenty of wildlife to see, either from the main deck or the privacy of your chalet. The river crossing is a real adventure, starting your game drive in a less-travelled area of... More

Just got back home yesterday, very tired but very happy! The view from our verandah was stunning. Elephants, monkeys, warthogs, giraffe, puku, crocodiles, hippos, birds all on view. Most afternoons the elephants and bush buck passed our lodge! The food is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Our thanks to Leandi and all the staff who helped make this... More

Thank you for your review of the lodge and we're very pleased to hear you had a fantastic holiday. There's always plenty of wildlife roaming on front of the lodge, a few days ago we even had an elephant drinking from the pool! Thanks again for your review. More

Stayed here in 2013 with my partner. We thought the setting was truly breathtaking! Our room was also stunning, very spacious and well kitted out throughout. Food was good and staff friendly. Activities were great and as usual in South Luangwa we saw everything we could wish for. Thanks to the Kafunta team for showing us a great time!

Kafunta was our first stop on our Zambian Safari. It is now quite a gruelling trip from UK to Zambia (approx. 24hrs) since there are no longer any direct flights into Lusaka. Having said that the whole trip was well worth it. So we were more than ready for a welcome chilled drink and cooling towels upon our arrival in... More

Thanks for your review of Kafunta River Lodge and we're so glad to hear that your safari made the long flight well worth while. You certainly had some great sightings - wild dogs are always a treat but pups too! That's one of the features of Kafunta, not only do you have a great view over the flood plain from... More

When my husband told me that an African safari was on his bucket list, I got busy researching the entire continent of Africa and ended up choosing Zambia for our first-ever safari. Next I researched all the camps and lodges in the South Luangwa Park, emailed quite a few as well but Kafunta River Lodge came out on top of... More

Thank you so much for your comprehensive review of the Kafunta River Lodge and Island Bush Camp. We're so pleased to be able to help make your dream safari come true. If we do say so ourselves, we think the South Luangwa is an extra special part of Africa, with plenty of wildlife but without the crowds that can be... More

This is a great lodge and what makes it even better is that it really is very good value for money. The central area of the South Luangwa can get very busy but Kafunta does have access to the park via a pontoon which means you do not have to go through the main gate which is a huge advantage.... Thank you for your review of Kafunta River Lodge and Island Bush Camp. Going on safari can be expensive bit we do believe we provide value for money and the lodge is a finalist in the Best Value Safari Property in the current Safari Awards. After a long trip from the UK 3 flights and a safari truck ride we were delighted with the welcome we received at Kafunta Lodge, cheerful faces all waiting to welcome us. Thank you for your review of the lodge and we're glad to hear that the long journey was well worth it. This was my first safari trip to Zambia. Gane and Marshall did a great job in organising what was a complex two centre safari package, with the emphasis on wildlife photography. Arriving at the camp in the late afternoon my immediate response was – wow – what a location. Being a keen and amateur experienced wildlife photographer I was hoping... More

Thank you very much for your review of Kafunta River Lodge and Island Bush Camp.
