A warm welcoming, staff dedicated to your well-being, fantastic game drives with a guide (Andrew) knowing a lot about his environment, trees, birds, animals. At arrival, a welcome drink, a lunch, a little free time before our first game drive. Lucky we were with in our sight a nice male leopard, then a dozen of lions, then wild dogs, and... More

We stayed at Kafunta for 7 days over Christmas 2013 and the whole experience was exceptional in every way, a real holiday of a lifetime. The whole staff at Kafunta were delightful and really nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was generally very good and our chalets perfect for our stay. We were exceptionally lucky with our... More

This was our second visit to Kafunta in 3 years and our opinions changed little. This is a great camp for seeing the Luangwa Valley, and, as ever, the wildlife experience dwarfs the finer details of the accommodation. On arrival we were told that there had been a double booking so my wife and I spent the first night in... More

Returned from my first trip to Kafunta which has one of the most desirable location in the Luangwa valley - with excellent game sightings including leopard on both game drives ! Happy to see the fruits of the Project Luangwa with the arrival of more than 20 extremely happy local disadvantaged kids being offered a holiday in camp .... Well... More

My wife and I visited Kafunta in the beginning of November for two nights. We had just left an amazing camp in the northern part of South Luangwa and were very much looking forward to a similar experience. There was nothing similar about it. The room was fine, and the common dining area was also fine, but the pool area... More

We stayed for 5 nights at Kafunta River Lodge in October. Our room was a luxury 2 storey chalet which had an upstairs outside balcony, with a day bed for relaxing on during the hot afternoons. The inside was spacious and comfortable, with a fridge and a fan, which was really welcome, as October is the hottest time of the... More

Thank you for your review of the lodge. It sounds like you had some excellent wildlife sightings. As you pointed out, one of the features of Kafunta is that there's often plenty of wildlife action right in front of the lodge. The luxury suites are highly recommended as they are very comfortable and both the deck an balcony provide great... More

Just returned from Kafunta Lodge. We had a great time, Martin our guide pulled out all the stops and made sure we saw nearly everything on our list! We spent two nights at Kafunta's Island Bush Camp followed by 3 nights at the main lodge. Very contrasting camps with Island Camp a true bush camp of paraffin lamps and bucket showers and Kafunta the lux follow up with a hot spring, pool and stunning two storey room. Both equally wonderful in diverse ways. Excellent walks from Island camp.... More

Kafunta formed the 'safari' part of our honeymoon this year, and more than lived up to expectations. Situated apart form most of the other lodges in the South Luangwa, you frequently got the experience of being in a private game reserve. We had leopard sitings a-plenty, more antelope than we really knew what to do with, excellent birding...and quite frequently... More
