We came to Zambia, having been on safari once before in South Africa. My husband, myself, daughter 17 and son 14. We were looking for something a bit different. We certainly found that here at Mchenja! What an amazing camp - literally in the middle of the bush. All showers/toilets were outside and we knew there was no connection to... More

Mchenja was our last stop on a seven night safari with Norman Carr; we had an excellent, excellent time!! The luxurious tents are the perfect example of "glamping", with a beautiful clawfoot tub in each one...and we had some of the most exciting wildlife sightings of the entire trip with our guide, Innocent and our Scout, Gideon. On our last... More

If you want to have an up close and personal experience with the wide array of wildlife in Zambia this is the place. During every game drive we couldn't believe out luck with our animal sightings. Even arriving at the camp on the first day we saw a lion having a nap. I particularly have a soft spot for 'baby'... More

Mchenja was our third Norman Carr camp we stayed at and each time they kept raising the bar. John our guide was full of personality and with whom we always felt safe with his driving and positioning relative to the animals. We saw so many different type of animals and birds it was hard to keep count. We viewed close... More

All our wishes came true in Mchenja, apart from the magnificent care & attention from the staff, the animal sitings were unbelievable. Our guide,John, and scout, took us on a magical tour of the bush, knowing precisely where the action was and putting us in the perfect viewing areas. Kendall & her staff took care of all else back at camp, feeding us too well and... More

If you want to see lots of game in its natural environment Mchenja Bush Camp is the place to be. We just spent 3 nights there and saw something wonderful and different every day. The standard of room here like the other camps we visited was exceptional with John and Kendall and the team spoiling us rotten. Rooms are large... More

One of Norman Carr’s remote bushcamps. Lodges are set up along the bank of a river (mostly dry during our visit) with resident hippos in the few remaining pools below. The wood, glass and canvas lodges comprise of a bedroom, outdoor shower, basin and toilet linked to the main bedroom by a bath area, with free standing bath next to... More

This was the fourth and last of the Norman Carr Bush Camps in which we stayed, having started at Luwi and worked our way down the Luangwa Valley. We were very impressed with how the N.C. Team planned and took care of all the practicalities of our stay in the Park. Nikita, Mchenja's hostess, could not have been more efficient... More

This is one of my favourite camps in Luangwa. Partly location, partly facilities, and always because of the great team - led by Simon and Nikita this year. The river bank location gives great views - the bar and restaurant area are comfortable rather than trendy. The food and hospitality are always top class. I am not sure about who... More

This was our first stay at a Norman Carr camp, and it was truly excellent. Nikita the manager was incredibly warm and hospitable, and even organised a surprise sun downer by the Luanga with popcorn and full bar for our last night. The tent itself was perfect, with a Victorian bath in one corner and a glorious view. All meals... More
