This is a beautiful location on the Luangwa River with a well-built, well-operated camping site overlooking the hippos cavorting in the river. Caution: camp is frequently visited by local animals night and day. African checklist: Working toilet √ [all accessories present]; running water √; hot water √; clean bed √; electricity in room √; mosquito netting √; WIFI 2 hours... More

This camp lives up to its name! Baboons wander around during the day, and at night it's common to see elephants and hear hippos. (The hippos are a mixed blessing since they're dangerous and their bellowing can and will keep you awake.) The view of the Luangwa River is just fantastic. I was there in July, so I can imagine... Dora greeted us after our 12 hour drive from Lusaka. We told her it had rained coming into the valley. "It hasn't rained here in months..it never rains." she said. Within the hour the heavens opened and it poured all night and the next morning. The campsites on the river have great views but are sandwiched between an Overlander site... More

The wildlife camp was the cheapest camping outside South Luangwa National Park (at least from the 1st of November to ? it was 8$ per person per night), but it was also the furthest from the gate of the park among the other accomodation offered. The camping is unfortunately crowed and you are really close to the other campers. It... More

We stayed here for a night before setting off on a safari, and we were so glad we chose this camp. The views over the Luangwa River are amazing, and there is never a shortage of wildlife in and around the camp. The food was excellent, and the guide BJ took us on a great game drive on the night... Wildlife Camp is placed in the Game Management Area of Zambia. It can be reached by a standard vehicle. The International Air port is only 27 km drive, by arrangement your transport to the Camp will wait for you at the airport. Please make your bookings well in advance, this place is famous but not over crowded. Select your overnight... More

In late August early September we stayed 4 nights - an excellent way to start our South Luangwa experience. The chalet and food were of a good standard with very friendly staff. Most importantly Moses and the other guides went beyond our expectations in seeking out wildlife and they have the rare ability to anticipate animal movements to give us... More

Each campsite has its own lapa so always some shade. It's right on the river so lovely views of animals coming down to drink. The showers are good, enough room to put belongings and shower. The only downside to the campsite are the monkeys and baboons but ...... There is a poolside bar with lots of shade and the pool... More

We had chalet number 9, beautifully situated with a view on the river. Great food, good guide (thanks Moses), enough water for showers and a wonderful terrace for sundowners. Manager Dora is the 'mongoose whisperer', she whistles or calls them and there they are, the whole bunch, for a treat out of her bag (catfood). The atmosphere is relaxing. This... More
