Like any prime real estate its all about location and Kaingo Camp certainly ticks all the boxes, a great camp on perhaps the best wildlife river frontage in Africa with each chalet having a private balcony at the edge of the river, with a communal balcony over the river; plus nearby hides for hippos, ells crossings and nesting carmine bee-eaters.... Kaingo is a lovely bush camp on the edge of the Luangwa River with each room having its own private veranda looking over the river. All staff and owners are very warm and friendly people and you are made to feel at home from the start. There is an open dining area and bar made from a huge tree trunk!... More

This was our 6th trip to Kaingo Camp (we've also been to Shenton's bush camp, Mwamba, 3 times), and we LOVED it as always. The rooms are sumptuous, and we especially loved taking bubble baths by the side of the river to the sound of hippos. The guiding by Patrick was superlative; the food delicious; the siestas and activities perfect.... More

We spent 4 nights at Kaingo Camp, There are three real components to any safari camp stay - food, lodging & game drives. Kaingo Camp excelled in all 3 areas. The 'rooms' are individual constructed private rooms, each with a deck on the river from which you can watch and hear hippos & see crocs. The camp was managed by... More

The South Luangwa, even at off peak, was phenomenal for game drives. The staff at Kaingo and the accommodations were wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay. When they tell you there could be elephant or hippo in the camp, they aren't exaggerating -- we had a big friendly make snack on trees outside of our rooms for the better part... More

Kaingo was our first stop in Zambia and, along with their sister camp Mwamba, was the highlight of our trip. The chalets were spacious and well appointed, although a ceiling fan would be appreciated in the hot months. We really liked having our own private shady deck overlooking the river for mid-day relaxation and for lunch. There was always something... More

This was our second camp on our Zambian safari. As previous reviewers mention it is quite a drive from the main Luangwa camps, however it is Sooo worth it, and obviously it is a safari drive on route. We stopped at a wonderful lake full of birdlife and plenty of hungry crocs, we stopped for coffee and witnessed a large... More

Like most owner run/managed camps Kaingo is up there with the best safari camps in Africa. The wildlife viewing is phenomenal and the guiding superb. I would definitely combine Kaingo with its sister camp, Mwamba Bushcamp. A huge asset to these two camps are the hides. They provide fabulous close up sightings which of course is also great for photographers...

This was our third visit to Shentons camps in 7 years because we LOVE the area and setup. We choose this time of the year (Sept) to see the spectacular Carmine Bee eaters nesting which was greatly enabled by Kaingo’s Carmine hide on the river. During this visit there were many more vehicles and spotlights during the night drives (than... More

Dear chadpond It was so lovely to have you back in camp and thanks for taking the time to post a review here on TripAdvisor. We spent 8 nights at Kaingo, spectacularly sited on a bank of the Luangwa, about 3 hrs' drive into the Park. The staff couldn't do enough for us and made our stay so enjoyable, including a surprise birthday party high above the river. Chef, Skye produced generous quantities of delicious food. Lisa (who has her own business) had taken over... More
