Tafika is a gem - the staff, location, guides, food...it all comes together perfectly. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homely - it was almost like being at my parent's place! The care and dedication of the staff is one of the best I've experienced. Do the walking safari - you will appreciate wildlife at a totally new level. For... More

We stayed 3 nights - at both Chicoko and Crocodile. Both were terrific. Guides were excellent (Amon and Mukupa),as were the rangers who kept us safe. Lots of walking, seeing animal tracks, we saw a lion kill and we were able to safely get close enough to see cubs among the whole pride. Comfortable accommodations, wonderfully prepared meals. We loved... More

The location, staff, and camp itself was fantastic. Previous posters have described the physical aspects of the camp very well. What I found particularly appealing was the interaction with the staff and the comfortable, family atmosphere. There was always a friendly smile whenever I left my chalet, from the groundskeepers all the way up to the owners. The food was... More

If you are trying to get "out in the bush" , but can't do a camping safari, this place is perfect. We were a family group of 9, including children as young as 8. The setting is perfect, the food is great and the people are spectacular. The owners, John and Carol, have a real commitment to the wildlife and... More

We travelled with our adult daughter who required her own room so we stayed in the family lodge on the bank of the Luangwa River. This accommodation is superb, built around a very large tree which creates a Swiss Family Robinson atmosphere and has completely open views across the river. There is much hippo noise during the night which adds... More

I had chosen to include Tafika in our itinerary due to how remote and authentic it sounded plus its very professional guiding. It delivered on all this and more with wonderful game drives, walking safari and the accommodation and food were very special. I was particularly well catered for with my dietary requirements often having specially modified dishes so I... More

The last family 'hands on' camp in South Luangwa. John, Carol, Jenny and Bryan Jackson provide the most welcoming of stays here, surrounded by a team of friendly staff, excellent guiding and delicious food. A special thanks to Heather who gave me insight to visiting Mwaleshi and Tafika each under the flagship that is RemoteAfrica safaris. The large chalet style... More

This really is in the outback from the moment the plane touched down, we were welcomed with drinks and taKen by jeap on a 1.5 hour journey to the lodge. We passed many villages and drove through the national park . Arriving we were again met with drinks cold flannels and a welcoming reception. The lodges are open and if... More

Tafika camp, together with its associated walking camps on the Chikoko Trails, is a wonderful and unique safari experience. South Luangwa is a remarkable ecosystem, and John, Carol and their whole team show it in the best possible way. The main draw card for us to come to South Luangwa was the walking safari, and it didn't disappoint. We spent... More

This a true family-run safari camp. The owners, John & Carol, along with their daughter Jennie, are very much hands-on. They are involved on a day-to-day basis, usually having breakfast and lunch with their guests, and are happy to chat about their bush experiences. The accommodations are very comfortable with big beds and large outdoor bathrooms. Some chalets are set... More
