A romantic tented camp with outdoor ensuite bathroom equipped with power for charging. We were undoubtably lucky but we saw leopards up trees, cavorting leopards culminating in mating, lions paddling in the river but not quite crossing, 8 tiny lion cubs, leopard growling at us from a tree before bounding down with a snarl, lost lion calling his pride, leopard... This was our last stay for 3 nights in our 2 weeks holidays in this beautiful country having visited 3 different parks. It became somehow the coronation of our trip. What a very well motivated, always helpful and smiling crew around Bertram, the manager and also our fantastic guide to many unforgettable game drives and walks. We even saw the... More

We arrived at Tena Tena after nightfall, following a long and protracted journey from Livingstone; but this did not diminish a bit our sense of awe at the setting of the place, lighted by numerous little lamps, as we were led to our tented rooms; these had some wild outdoor bathroom facilities, which were surrounded by a wall reaching up... My wife and I spent 3 of our 9 night safari at Tena Tena Camp back in June 2014. We had chosen this camp based on its location and extremely positive reviews, both of which were spot on. We were originally thinking we'd spend 2 nights but were so glad we chose to spend the additional night. As another reviewer... More

We ended our vacation with three days at Tena Tena - and found the accommodations to be fantastic (bush luxury), the staff to be very welcoming and warm (thank you Bertram and Rose) and the food to be delicious. Both my husband and I thought the camp was a very special place - the scenery and animals and the staff... More

I just returned from 10 nights of Robin Pope. Two nights and three days were spent at spectacular Tena Tena. From the leopard, hippos, elephants and impala right outside our tent to the thrill of tracking lions and their kill on foot (and being very successful) - this was an extraordinary experience. The staff, the food, the wine and the... More

We stayed the last 2 nights of a 14 safari in South Luangwa. There were few people until the last afternoon so we were very fortunate in being able to choose exactly what we wanted to do. The tents were good, although I prefer to have a mosquito net rather than rely on the tent to keep them out at... More

We spent 3 nights at Tena Tena . The rooms/tents are well spaced out and are very comfortable. The main eating/drinking area is well designed and spacious enough for people to be social but not crowded. Meals at a large table allows people ( guests and hosts) to get to know one another in a casual atmosphere. The game drives/walks... More

Perfectly appointed tented camp set along the river bank. By day you'll hear the birds singing. By night, the grunting of hippos. Such a treat to be in nature. And to be in a camp that blends into the nature so perfectly. Set in a private concession, your afternoon game drives will turn into night drives, so you can also... More

I'm writing this review and comparing Tena Tena directly with Sanctuary Retreats Puku Ridge and more broadly with many other safari experiences with 'Wilderness' and '&Beyond'. For me, this 3 night stay falls somewhere between an 'average' and 'very good' rating. The Camp itself is fairly small regarding facilities but offers comfortable accomodation in the form of newish tents with... More
