Like other reviewers I can only echo what has been said before. Phil, Babette and the staff make visiting Kuyenda a truly unique experience, even amongst the other Bushcamps, and we will always remember and cherish the time we spent sitting round the fire or over sundowners hearing all the wonderful stories of life in the parks. We had some... More

After a disappointing stay at Mfuwe lodge our spirits lifted immediately on the drive away from the crowds around Mfuwe to the relative isolation of Kuyenda. Upon arrival at the camp we felt we had discovered the safari Eden that you know exists but you so seldomly find. Just 3 rondavel rooms for guests, a main dining/lounge area, a few... More

...is that once it gets in your blood, it doesn't get out (to borrow an oft used expression). I could go on and on about how wonderful Phil, Babette, Zachs, Richard and the rest of the Kuyenda staff are, but then I'd simply be regurgitating what almost evey prior reviewer has written. This is a camp of two halves. In... More

My difficulty with this review was that there was no way to give this camp the six stars it deserves. Putting everything together it is the best bush camp my wife and I have visited in Africa and that includes a lot of camps in many different countries. The guiding is outstanding! Now that we have met Phil Berry my... More

For me the main highlight was the authenticity of the camp and its hosts. By the end of my stay at this simple and elegant bushcamp I felt relaxed, and well-nourished in body, mind and soul! Thanks to Phil, Babette, Isaiah and co. for a memorable Zambian experience.

So first, don't go there for a Disneyland experience, with all mod cons. Phil and Babette have re-created the old style bush camps. This one is put down and rebuilt every year, after the rainy season, and very comfortable. The showers are open air. Nothing like hearing animals as a wake up call! The guiding is excellent and Phil and... More

My friends and I stayed here for 3 days and had a truly amazing time . It was a small camp but let that not detract from hospitality and wealth of knowledge shown by Phil and Babette the owners. Without a doubt a truly inimitable and treasured Safarian experience.

If you're looking for Disneyland parades of animals or engineered situations then stop reading now as this isn't where to find these. Instead here is a gem of a place. Tucked away amongst the Bushcamp Company is Kuyenda Bushcamp. What a revelation - we spent time at Mfuwe Lodge and Chamilandu before getting to Kuyenda and had already been blown... More

If you are considering a rural/pure Zambian experience, then this is probably exactly what you are looking for, with fairly basic open air (temperamental) bathroom facilities and small rooms constructed with natural materials. Kuyenda is not set by a river or lagoon which I feel detracts from the setting and also impacts on the sighting of fewer animals/birds. The guests... More

The Kuyenda Camp is a real Bush Camp, away from the Luangwa river, and has more of a real traditional bush camp than some of the other camps. Those looking for the real "In the bush experience" will love it. Those looking for modern luxuries, with occasional sights of animals will not.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set beneath shady trees by the Manzi River, it may be the simplest of The Bushcamp Company's bushcamps, but Kuyenda embodies the authentic charm of old Africa with its cluster of traditional thatched grass huts and back-to-nature feel and Phil Berry, one of the Luangwa’s premier guides, at its helm. Camp can accommodate up to eight guests in four rustic thatched rondavels and offers guided walking safaris, plus day and night game drives (open from June to November). ... more   less
