The worst mistake of our wonderful Zambian trip was staying at this lodge. The owners were initially welcoming but soon we found that they were nasty and rude to each other which was very uncomfortable for us. The owner even swore at his kitchen staff right within earshot of where we were sitting for breakfast. No matter what the staff... More

This place is not in South Luangwa National Park but a full day's drive away and the only real stop-off if you are coming from South Luangwa. Three of the four couples stayed in the chalets and we camped. The chalets were ok and our rooftop tent was also fine although the ablutions were dirty and in great need of... More

Currently pretty much the only place to stay for anyone travelling the road between Lusaka and the border with Malawi this camp has the monopoly in the market. Which is just as well as it’s vulnerable to any well run competition (and there might be some on the way). The downstairs reception area has an attractive overlook to the river... More

After having read all the reviews of Bridge Camp we were desperate but unsuccessful to find another campsite in the area. At least we thought we were prepared when we got there - oh no! We made a reservation, received a written confirmation but nobody knew about us and the owners were absent. The entire place including the ablution was... More

Not at all a great campsite. There's no grass, just hard almost concrete like ground, which means when you're sleeping in a tent it's really quite uncomfortable. The toilets are ok though they have holes in the walls rather than windows which means the toilets and showers fill with bugs at night. They also have to turn on the heaters... More

I used to stay there in 2006-7, because there was no accommodation around that time. Then, last time I visited there and found the price is K150 (30USD) per bed (not per room!), in the room where simple 5 beds are in. Other rooms cost K270-350 (60-80USD) and they are old chalette that seemed to be non-renovated for last 8... More

We were driving between South Luangwa and the Lower Zambesi and needed to break our journey whilst remaining on the Great East Road. This camp seemed ideally placed, so we made a booking.......Ooooh Dear! It was awful! We arrived at 20.00 and were told that one of our rooms had been sold to someone else! In its place we were... The last two reviewers have this place spot on. It only survives due to its convenience of location, there is no other reason to stay here, look for an alternative. Also the reviewer who describes the half cut owner is right, we had the same experience and worse still we felt that their drinks had been added to our bill... More

We needed to break the drive from South Luangwa NP to the Lower Zambezi NP, and thought Bridge Camp was in the right place to do that. It was in the right place to break the journey. Other than that, there is nothing positive to say about it. It's overpriced for a cramped, untidy camp site, with poorly maintained facilities.... More

We were en route to South Luangwa and had driven 11 hours from Lower Zambezi, so you can imagine we were looking forward to arriving at our camp and getting set up. We'd been told not to expect anything too grand and that it was purely a stopover on the Great East Road - but it was way below anything... More
