Huab Lodge is truly wonderful. It's a long dusty drive on dirt roads to get there, but so well worth it. Jan and Suzi and the rest of their team are all wonderful hosts and their little corner of Damaraland is truly magical. We stayed for three nights and are so glad we did - other guests were in and... We loved this lodge. Yes it might be a long dusty road to reach it but that's part of its charm. The owners were away when we arrived but we were warmly welcomed by Jaap and shown to our spacious and comfortable bungalow with its large shady terrace - and enclosed bathroom!!. We had the good fortune to be the... More

It was oveall a pleasant place to spend a couple of days. the spring was nice, the food was good, and the accomodation great. Jan was a wonderful host. The rooms may have been a bit dated but they were still very peasant and it was the only time I slept on a decent pillow in the whole of Africa.... More

My wife and I spent 3 days and nights here in late September and really fell in love with the lodge, its wonderful staff, spacious and well-appointed bungalows, delicious meals and the surroundings. Yes, it's well off the beaten path to get here but your rewards for all that driving are self-evident the moment you step out of your vehicle.... More

We stayed here for several days in late 2005, and absolutely loved it. Very friendly and we appreciated the tremendous knowledge of Jan about local wildlife. Guided walks were superb and we had a close-up of fighting desert elephants one night No it's not got the big animal density of Etosha, but it's a different sort of place.

Reception was quite alright and then they clean your dusty car after quite a long travel to get there - in a not overly exciting environment. Omaruru region and Namib desert are by far more interesting. The bungalows are very much outdated - nothing more to say here. Ok, the hot water spring is quite interesting and comfortable, but again,... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Huab lodge during our family road trip through Namiba. Having visited various lodges throughout our journey, this one is still our favourite. It is a hidden gem at the end of a long dirt road but definitly worth the drive. The lodge itsself is run by Jan and his wife who are the most... More

My wife, our 14 yo daughter and I stayed there for 2 nights in July and from that time on the place is still somewhere in my mind... I have been to many different places in southern Africa but Huab Lodge has something very special. It is not the big 5, even if you may see elephants and leopard with... More

We stayed in August and I did not feel comfortable there. At arrival we were greeted nicely by the ranger, the female owner seemed rather reserved. The bungalows are spacious but you can see the signs of decay. Some windows you can not close properly and believe me you want to close them during the night when it is winter... More

Number one in Damaraland? You gotta be kidding me. Only if you are very, very elderly and your idea of a safari drive is 2 hours drive at 6 km per hour, covering only the backyard of Huab Lodge where you'll hardly see anything else apart from the owner's dogs and some springboks, oryxes and some birds. Hm, not what... More
