We absolutely loved our stay at Mowani; amazing rooms - we had the valley view rooms but couldn't really tell why they might be viewed as inferior to rooms 1-4; as an added bonus we discovered that our room had an additional outside shower and bath with views out across the valley - incredible; lovely food (the best cooked Oryx... We camped at Mowani Mountain camp at their recently opened campsite. This was our worst experience out of the 11 campsites we visited in Namibia. The entrance gate was easy to find, and that was the last place we saw someone who made us feel welcome. After going through the gate we had to drive a further 600m to sign... More

Glamping at its best! Friendly and professional staff go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Delicious Food, amazing sunset view point, beautiful rock pool, plenty of bird and wild life, especially the desert elephants makes this a worth while Namibian experience.

Great tented and woven structures used as hotel rooms and eating areas. Superb cool outdoor pool with amazing wildlife and massive rocks surrounding it. Its all inclusive as you literally are in the middle of nowhere It was amazing to wake in the morning. The views... ah the views.. Its one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.

Beautiful chalet/camp set in an amazing area. My chalet was perfect, as was the service. I had a very comfortable bed, bath that had a gorgeous view. The restaurant had excellent food, and could not ask for more. I loved everything here and would love to stay again.

I think this was my favorite place in our 2 1/2 weeks in Namibia. The rooms are spread out, giving a sense of privacy and quiet. The room was spotless and comfortable with a beautiful view from our private deck. All the staff were friendly and efficient. The guy at the entrance gate always had a big smile and welcomed... More

What a location and elegantly appointed property! Kudos to the manager who made sure we didn't have to go out elephant tracking with some obstreperous children! Mowani's sundowner tradition with excellent cocktails, cushion seating, and free appetizers is a pleasurable experience. We enjoyed the charming servers at meals, our intelligent guide on the elephant excursion, the bright love birds in the... More

I am just back from a month touring Namibia with my teen son. We both really liked this hotel for the unique setting and impressive manner in which it blends into the surrounding rocks. We stayed in a superior room for two nights and went on one excursion: desert elephant tracking (which was an outstanding activity). We had a great... More

A 3.5 camp at most. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but no bottled water provided ( we had to ask at every meal as they wanted us to drink the bore water ... A big no for on the move travelers ). No bathroom privacy which could be a problem for families or twin share. Our arrival was bordering on... More

We spent a night here during our Namibian tour. The view and solitude were majestic, and the campsites have there own individual toilets and camp kitchen. The donkie (warm water boiler) is lit at nightfall to supply warm water for the shower at nightfall. Very central to the sights in the area

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mowani Mountain CampBetween the Ugab and the Huab Rivers in southern Damaraland lies a vast and unspoilt wilderness area, boasting magnificent desert scenery, unusual geological formations, archaeological sites and a unique variety of desert fauna & flora. This is also the southernmost roaming-ground of the rare black rhino and the desert elephant. In the Twyfelfontein Conservancy is Mowani Mountain Camp. The word M’wane means "Place of God", and here you will find the true meaning of the words – peace and tranquility. Mowani nestles amongst the majestic boulders of this beautiful area on a high spot, commanding distant views over the ancient landscape. Great care has been taken with the design of the recreational areas, giving the impression of an African Village. The 12 luxury thatched rooms are elegantly decorated with furnishings especially designed for convenience and comfort - and decks to enjoy the spectacular views. Three additional suites offer exceptional accommodation. ... more   less
