Myself and two friends travelled to Mufasa's for the Easter Weekend. After debating whether to stay in Cape Maclear or Monkey Bay, we decided on Monkey Bay in order to avoid the holiday crowds at Cape Mac. The best decision we could have made. Mufasa's is situated in the most picturesque and secluded bay, framed by granite hills covered in... More

Located on it'd own beach the simple accommodation was perfect for our needs. The were friendly and always willing to help. The lodge is ideally siuated if you plan to take the lake ferry. Be patient when waiting for a meal it will arrive.

We stayed briefly at Mufasa's when traveling up the lake with Ilala. The lodge is located in a beautiful and relaxed part of the beach little separated from the main street (i quess) of Monkey bay but is still the closest lodge when considering the harbour where Ilala sets off. Rooms are small but comfortable and we felt like the... More

When I arrived there, owner(or staff) offer and offer "Do you wanna something to drink?" I didn't wanna drink, but he asked many times, so I got sprite but it wasn't cold. After drink, he asked same offer again, make me annoy. shower room was not really clean. They should remove twigs and spider webs. And they said you can... More

Really warm friendly staff! Unfortunately only stayed here one night whilst camping, but it was beautiful to wake up looking at the sunrise over the unique pontoon! If possible look to book a boat and snorkel trip with one of the locals! Spent the day on the boat and had fresh fish, rice an vegetables cooked on an island while... More

We spent there few days, but unfortunately the weather was not really helpful especially in the afternoon. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm and paid 3500 kwacha per night. Completely relaxing by the beach enjoying the Mufasa bar and restaurant. They use Green Energy: solar energy (which sometimes does not really help) and toilet water that comes from the... More

Great location, great staff. The rooms are located right at the beach. Nice location to swim and the beach is private. Really relaxing to stay over there but It's a rustic backpackers what means that there is only solar power and no internet connection. We went fishing over there, the staff helped us with finding worms but we didn't catch... More

We stayed for two nights and then came back at another night before leaving the lake. The first two nights were good. The lodge is rustic but in an incredible location so we were impressed. Also the food is really good! However on our second stay it rained pretty heavily and it was as if the roof wasn't even there!... More

I stayed at Mufasa for one night on 30th Dec 2013 and about 500$ was stolen from my bag. I suspect that one of the staff, i.e. either the barman or night guard, took the money. The manager was very unhelpful refusing to give me the name of the owners of the lodge, and going to the local police proved... More

Mufasa Backpacker was the first location where we hit the lake. We never made it to Cape McClear, but travelled instad onwards to the north. Cape McClear was said to be a vibrate little town, Monkey Bay isn't. But I'm really happy Mufasa is there for people like us, who got stranded. And it's not such a problem to get... More
