Have been travelling to The Gambia for many years now and always stay at Bakotu. It has been nice to see how the infrastructure improves each year. Lovely staff, lovely area, lovely everything. Nothing is too much trouble. Feel like family now. With regard to previous posts the giant tortoise is very particular about when she makes an appearance- she has... More

We went to Gambia for the first time in November 2013 and stayed at the Bakotu hotel, attracted by the idea of staying in a smaller scale hotel with huts next to the lake, and in fact on arrival we were given just that, quiet though under a huge Baobab tree which was alive with many birds. This is a... More

Stayed for one week at the end of April. Around 700 dalasi for a taxi from the airport. Hotel based across the road from the beach which you access through a small craft market. Although to avoid the bumsters we went through Kombo Beach hotel to get to the beach. Beautiful gardens surrounding the rooms and hotel. Bird watching platform... More

My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Bakotu. Being the end of the season it was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel was spotlessly clean, staff very friendly and breakfasts fine despite what some reviews have said. On our first day we met Bakary Jarju, a bird guide who took us for a walk around... More

We have just returned from the gambia after staying at bakotu hotel kotu stream. We read many negative things about this hotel, all which we found to be untrue. Our room was quite big, very clean, fresh towels every day, flowers put on the bed. The grounds although a bit tropical in places are well kept, monkeys came to see... More

We have just got back from a week in gambia, staying at Bakuto … we thought it was lovely - great location, and lovely gardens and pool - it was very quiet the week we were there which suited us well. The local family of monkeys are lots of fun and the food was fine . The staff were mostly... More
