Great accommodation, fantastic food, fantastic staff, fantastic fresh water pool, fantastic weather and the highlight for us, fantastic wildlife everywhere in and around Footsteps. The ethos of sustainability is interwoven into all aspects of Footsteps and it's rewarding to see that it actually works! As a destination for a family holiday for six people Sunbird House was perfect - including... More

We loved our stay at Footsteps! It is very eco friendly and child friendly! We staff is amazing! The round houses are clean and got everything you need. There is a lot of freedom around the garden. The dog is amazing! He became good friends with our daughter. Pick up from the airport was perfect, food was perfect. Beach is... More

I stayed at Footsteps for a week in April. I travelled to The Gambia with my Dad, we stayed in the "Rabbit" lodge - a twin room. We had a fantastic relaxing week. We went primarily to do some birdwatching, and saw well over 100 species from inside the lodge's grounds. We had intended to do a few more trips,... More

I choose Footsteps because it is far from the main tourist area and it is eco friendly. I stayed for 2 nights. The room was great and the staff were excellent. The food was good but expensive. The place is perfect for bird photography as well. I had the best chances to photograph Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, Red-bellied Flycatcher, Fanti Saw-wing and... More

This has been one of the best holidays ever. We decided on The Gambia this year as a bit of a gamble. We booked a house on the Footsteps site as we like to be independent but wanted the closeness of the Lodge to give us comfort that things would not be too wild! We had a fabulous time. The... More

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Footsteps Eco lodge and Loved it! It was a lot nicer and cleaner than I expected. The pictures on Trip Advisor and on the website don't do the lodge justice. We stayed in the Turtle mud hut which was lovely (like a little mini villa, rather than a mud hut). All... More

Lovely, lovely week at Footsteps. All that other reviewers say about environment and things to do was true so I won't repeat it. Highlight was the kora (traditional harp) concert -- a superb experience. Whatever you think of David (it's clear from the reviews that feelings are mixed), he has created a great place at Footsteps and has his heart... More

Lovely relaxing holiday at Footsteps in a family friendly environment. Gambians are very friendly and the food was great. Lots to see and do - beach was super as well. In a very quiet remote location but the airport pick up is free if you book via booking.com

This was my first visit to Gambia. I chose Footsteps Eco Lodge because it away from the main tourist area and in a more rural setting, and what a great choice I made. The lodge is set next to a forest, with a large garden to walk around and take photos of the local fauna and flora. Every aspect of... More
