4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I really liked this hotel - it has a charm of it's own which makes it stand out from some bigger competitors. Great rooms, lovely gardens and very friendly staff - they seem to remember everybody's name and treat you like personal friends. We stayed for 7 nights in mid February - on booking we had specifically asked for the... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We stayed for three days in the new Macondo suites - ground floor with a private plunge pool. The suite was immaculate with a huge bed (big enough for three), lovely linen, large wet room with his and hers sinks, and a lovely balcony overlooking the infinity pool and of course the ocean. We definitely felt pampered, and thoroughly enjoyed... More

I can only really echo all ( apart from the silly whinging review going on about the steps, the blind receptionist, the missing bacon and the lack of key cards) of the previous reviews Beautiful location, eccentric and bafflingly brilliant artworks and features in the grounds, fantastic staff and great food-sprinkle over with 35 degrees temperatures and blue skies and it's just happy days... Staying at Ngala Lodge it a bit like having dinner with an aged but much-loved aunt; she might break wind at the table and dribble food down her chin, but you accept these idiosyncrasies with good grace because you love her to bits! Parts of Ngala Lodge are certainly aged. We paid for an upgrade to one of the Atlantic... More

Having spent the last three years staying at some of the best hotels in the Caribbean, this year we opted to try Gambia and Ngala Lodge for two weeks (February 2015). It is a great place and easily as good as any of the Caribbean hotels for a fraction of the cost. The staff are friendly and attentive - in fact... More

Thank you for your great review. To be compared with some of the best hotels in the Caribbean is quite an accolade for us. Espescially given the relatively short flight time from London (6/7 hours) and the fact that there is no time difference. It was a pleasure to have you to stay and we look forward to welcoming you... Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already. We had a wonderful stay in a wonderful place. Yes quirky, but we liked that. Wonderful places to relax and soak up the sun, and not feeling like to we intruded upon by other guests. The restaurant was really special with wonderful food created by Johnathan. All the staff we... More

We visited for two weeks in January 2015. The hotel was excellent and the food by chef Jonathan Groves was superb. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. A wonderful private beach was most enjoyable.

This was our thirteenth visit to Ngala Lodge and we loved it as much this year as we have done on all other visits. The hotel is unique , never stayed anywhere quite like it. Where else would you expect to see red, white and blue penguins in The Gambia? A small herd of concrete cows in the garden? The... More

On entering the Hotel, was greeted by a waiter and also a hand wash sanitizer which we were surprised no other Hotels had this in place. We always carry our own but was a lovely thought by the Hotel. We sat on a lovely patio overlooking the sea and lovely gardens, was another patio where we had a photo taken... More

My wife and I secured a fairly late booked holiday to the Ngala Lodge, where we stayed for a week in mid January. That we were able to secure this holiday by booking so late was probably due to the Ebola situation which has affected some West African states. I would stress now, as many others have that THERE IS... More

Thank you for your very comprehensive review! It was kind of you to take the time to write. We are always delighted when well travelled guests enjoy Ngala and the Gambia. The country sometimes has a reputation it does not deserve. We look forward to welcoming you back - soon! More
