Ngala Lodge is one man's dream. Peter Engel. A true eccentric with a disarmingly friendly air about him. You can't help but to instantly like him and his family (who were there for the first few days). It was also the week for a management hand-over as Jenny was also leaving. Firstly, the suite. We had an Atlantic Suite on... More

Ngala Lodge is one of the most outstanding hotels and restaurants in Greater Banjul. Amazing garden, nice pool, small private beach, delicious African and European cuisine... definitely a must. Friendly and helpful staff.

If you are looking for a chilled out couples holiday with amazing food, incredibly attentive friendly service in an idyllic setting then Ngala Lodge fits the bill perfectly. We stayed in one of the new Macondo pool suites which are luxurious with great verandas that lead down to the infinity pool and have perfect views of the ocean. Jonathan the head... More

Been here before but this time we stayed in the Manor suites - no. 14B is a lovely suite which catches the evening sun on the balcony. Great for sundowners. The owner has added a bigger restaurant, new bar area and infinity pool since we last stayed - all lovely. The standard of cuisine is even better than before and... More

This place was probably the most amazing hotel I had ever stayed at. It is so beautiful and right on the beach. It is decorated extremely well and the staff are super nice and helpful. I would open the windows at night and listen to the roar of the surf. Best way to fall asleep. I wouldn't recommend it if... More

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay as much as you did. Although we are first and foremost a romantic hotel we are also ideally placed for business visitors coming to The Gambia who want excellent service and great food but who don't want to stay in large impersonal hotels or for solo travellers... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ngala Lodge (a little while ago now but only just getting round to writing the review!). All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was incredible. Our room was huge and cleaned to a very high standard. We went on many trips with Habib who really is fantastic.... More

Thank you for your review. It was kind of you to write. Our strengths are indeed the staff and Habib (and I'd better mention Jonathans cooking!) We have undergone quite a few changes since your visit - in May 2014 - so you really should come and see us again soon! More

We returned recently from a 1 week stay in March 2015 at ngala lodge. The hotel is in a great location with beautiful gardens. We loved the quirky art works everywhere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Trips out were a must for us to experience the real Gambia although it was always great to return to this haven... More

We stayed at the Ngala Lodge for 1 week and our only regret is that we did not stay for longer. The hotel is absolutely excellent and we could not have picked a better one for our stay in The Gambia. Although this was our first stay at Ngala Lodge we were welcomed very warmly by the staff who made... More

I have reviewed this hotel on a prior visit. My husband is an above the leg amputee and I have a damaged Achilles Tendon injury. However we stayed for 2 weeks in room 8 and had a most enjoyable holiday. Room 8 is situated at the front of the hotel near reception and there are 4 shallow wide steps from... More

We were here last year and could not wait to return. The whole place is so relaxing and peaceful, it is beautifully laid out with gorgeous gardens scattered with some very amusing artwork. We were in an Atlantic suite; these are superb rooms with acres of space and a huge balcony. A slight problem, of our own making, was swiftly... More
