We found the Herkimer KOA when relocating to New York from GA. Most campgrounds in the north close mid October to winterize (did not know this) and struggled to find a place to stay until November when we close on our house. The Herkimer KOA stays open as long as the weather permits and were so helpful with our situation.... More

We spend three nights at this campground. Two people and one dog in a 21 foot camper, full hook up pull through site. The sites were clean and level. Everything worked well and we were able to set up quickly. The only thing (very minor) was a stripped connector for the tv cable hook up, but they gave me an... More

We rented a creek side cabin for three adults and two dogs, and it was lovely. Very nice people at check in, great location, and plenty of room for everybody. I love that they provide not only a grill outside but also a beautiful umbrella table & chairs for four on a patio. This was fun. Like camping without the... More

We are not really camp people, but my son always wants to stay here when we go to the diamond mines. We have stayed in the smaller cabins and more deluxe ones. The cabins are always neat and clean. The staff are lovely and the guests are nice and quiet. It is a good family environment.

This campground in far from KOA quality. Campground needs much TLC. In many areas, lawn and campsites need maintenance. Many campsites were close together. Some pull-thru sites are available. Our campsite was all mud, unlike many of the other sites which were rock. During a minor rain storm, we had mud flowing through our site down to the river. We... More

I've visited the Herkimer Diamond Mine before and have to say as always really enjoyed the experience. This time I rented a small cabin on the hill by the quarry. It was extremely clean. The staff was very helpful. I felt relaxed and very safe traveling and staying here. The owners are very involved in the experience and it was... More

We recently attended a family reunion at this campground. It was a fun place. There are cabins from very basic to rather deluxe, as well as tent and camper sites. The Herkimer diamonds are a quartzite rock that can be dug right outside the campground. Below is a stream and the main campground. The area is pretty and fun. It... More

The good: Herkimer Diamond Mines. We had a great time. You can bring your own tools, chisels, shovel, rock hammers, etc. Pet friendly at both the camp and the mine which is across the street. The bad: The RV sites are crowded though the cabins seemed nice. The store is sparsely stocked and expensive! The women's bathroom was not as... More

Third trip to this KOA and our family thoroughly enjoyed it each time. Nice sites, very clean and plenty to do. Diamond mine across the street always fun for all. Cooperstown and Howe Caverns are nice day trips. Staff friendly and helpful too.
