My partner and I and her family have been holidaying here for the last couple of years, we love the design and family friendly atmosphere. It's a great base to enjoy greenport and to get over to shelter island. In season and out it fells like you are living the classic American movie. I cannot recommend silver sand enough it... More

Proclaiming the Silver Sands Motel & Beach Cottages as my preferred lodging in Greenport might be a lofty statement after only one visit. However, that’s all it took for me to fall in love with this rustic gem located in the North Fork of Long Island. Situated less than five minutes outside Greenport, the Motel offers a swimming pool and... More

Stayed there one night during our trip over Long Island. The main building is built in a U shape with the opening to the private beach. We could unfortunately not go there as the weather did not permit it. The rooms are spacious and have a retro charm, dating back to the 50s. It is nice to have a sleeping... More

Girls weekend, comfy, cozy and convenient! Beautiful beach location, comfortable beds, large room, great view of the Peconic Bay, easy and short drive to Greenport, quiet and perfect for friends, couples or families. Will return this season. Very affordable and lovely staff.

This is our second stay at Silver Sands. The service is great. They owners are friendly, accommodating and pleasant. They provide breakfast each day (muffins, cereal, milk, coffee and tea), which is a great plus. The location is convenient to most activities out there and the view is outstanding. But, do not book here if you are expecting top rate... More

It was 18 months since our first, by chance, visit to Silver Sands; turning left off the main road, through the woods and over the railtracks simply hightens the anticipation. Just crossing two parallel lines and you're in a totally different zone, an another State of Mind. The welcome is quietly and artlessly sincere. Jean remembered us from our first... More

Old style motel that will remind you of all the places you stayed at as a child with your parents. Reasonable. I can't stand that families can't afford vacations anymore because the motel rates have gotten to be so high. The pleasure of this place is how removed it is from the main road. The sense of peace garnered from... More

I don't think there is much middle ground here. You're either going to accept the way it looks or not. It is not something you will get used to. Aesthetically, it is the same as the day it was built, albeit older and in a more worn condition. We stayed in the motel and found it to be o.k. The... More

We just returned from Greenport this weekend. We stayed at the Silver Sands Motel. Upon arrival we were given a cottage for the first time, we usually stay in the motel. The cottage was great. The beach is on the Peconic Bay and the view on the beach is tremendous. You can see Shelter Island, Greenport and Southold. It is... More

The private beach is amazing, which I had a view of from my room . The motel is very retro and I loved it. It is not the average prepackaged room but offers a slice back in time when the world was more genuine and less decided by large corporations. The Silver Sands is family owned. My only regret is... Our rooms and cottages all have microwaves, mini-fridges, television, AC, and some have efficiency units as well as full kitchens.
