Early July 2014, we stopped at this campsite for 2 night en route to Hwange. It was a peaceful camp, a place of rest, and with little effort you can view bushman paintings. The camp has electricity. Female bathrooms has 3 showers, 3 toilets and basins. Male bathroom has 3 showers, 2 toilets and 1 urinal. The camp managers supply... More

In June 2012 my husband and three daughters stayed at the Big Cave Camp for four nights. The accommodation and lodge was delightful, the food was excellent and the staff were diligent. On our evening tour we almost encountered a leopard which thrilled the men but terrified our daughters. The tour to the nearby health clinic provided the opportunity to... More

We arrived late in the evening and had an "exhilarating" ride up the boulder from the car park to the camp. We were greeted with a welcome drink & a warm towel which were very welcome after a long day's drive. The rooms have beautiful views and are well designed. Unfortunately, there are no plugs available so you cannot charge... More

Hi Marion. Thanks very much for your feedback, and please know that we take all comments seriously, and aim to improve where we can. Just to respond on the plumbing issues, and the shower. We are going to be renovating our bathrooms in November, as we know the bathrooms are a little dated, so that is on the cards! We... More

I agree with most of what other reviewers have said below. It is a wonderful camp, and the Ntwane Room is particularly nice, and the most private, being at the end of the row. The food was good, and the staff very pleasant. We saw very little game of the property (Rock Dassies & Vervet monkeys), very little on the... More

Thank you for the the kind words, and feedback! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay, and yes Ntwane is a great room! I have just spent 10 days in camp, and the bush is VERY thick, so yes at the moment we are not seeing that much plains game. Having said that, to find the rhino is always... More

Don't have much to add to what previous reviewers have said. The location and design of the lodge is absolutely stunning. We arrived after dark and felt like we were in a fairy tale! Looking up at the stars from the top of the boulders around the campfire was a truly memorable experience. The staff were lovely, the early morning... More

Thanks so much for the lovely review on the lodge, and I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Shepherd will be thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your walk with him. He has only been with the lodge a few months, however is really making a difference in camp. Thanks for the feedback on the meal, I will... More

We stayed just a night and tried to change our bookings to stay another because we enjoyed it so much. The chalets are idealic, looking out at the sunrise. The main lodge building, built within the bolders is unique. Our guide Sam was wonderfully knowledgeable about the game, the plants, the local culture and beliefs and other history of the... More

So much has been said about the stunning location of this lodge and it's all true. I loved the tasteful and romantic decor - mosquito netting etc - and the use of stone tiling to mimic the natural stone of the surroundings - it makes for a luxurious, relaxing setting. Our room had a panoramic view of the valley, we... More

We camped here in a tent for 3 nights. It's a very nice site with friendly and helpful staff, and a very good place from which to explore Matopos. We had a good pitch with our own braai and firepit. Care was taken to ensure that we, as an 'older' couple were shown a place away from the central area where... More

A fair camp site for tenting with decent facilities. Ok toilets and showers with hot water. Nice little bar for evening gatherings. Environments not all that great. Very little wildlife during my visit. Perhaps unlucky, though. All in all worth a visit if not too far away from your planned route.
