We spent 2 nights in autumn of 2015 at big cave camp. the surrounding was breathtaking. the camp is lovely designed and offering beautiful rooms. the staff is warmly so you don't feel like a guest, more than a member of the family. we had delicious food at the camp and exciting safaris/tours with our awesome guide named Tawanda! Great place to stay when visiting the Matoba hills. Excellent staff and knowledgeable guide. Hosts were great, really enjoyed sun downers on lightening rock, good food, great setting. Very pleasant stay, nice rooms. Game drive around the property in the evening and track white Rhino in the early morning in the park.

Great tenting facilities, hot showers, flushing toilets. There is a great little bar for evening gatherings. Brown the camp attendant is a fantastic host. For wildlife, call African wanderer safari's. The combo of the two made a perfect unforgettable journey.

Not too far from Bulawayo for business, but far enough to feel like you are really on a safari. Thank you for special attention for a quick romantic break. Private dinner. Gorgeous views from our room. Great staff. I am sure we will see you again soon. Many thanks

For those who wish to experience Africa, Big Cave Camp is a step in the right direction. However, it should be noted that the road from the camp to the reception of the lodge with the same name, leads past the staff compound. The compound unfortunately is not neat or clean and this creates a poor impression. Wifi access at... More

Hi Elise. Many thanks for the review. much appreciated. I presume that you were staying in the camp site and were then walking to the main lodge along our service road? I must agree with you that this area could be improved and have given instructions to neaten up the area, and we are about to embark on re thatching... More

Big Cave Camp was the first stop on my travels in Zimbabwe. I knew what I was hoping to experience here -- hiking in spectacular settings steeped in ancient cultural significance. But I didn't know exactly what to expect as a first-time visitor to Zimbabwe. BCC met or exceeded my expectations in every respect: warm, hospitable staff; great food; comfortable... More

We spent a very relaxing three nights at Big Cave. The lodge was beautifully set out with a small pool, excellent dining area and setting is exquisite. Walks with Shepherd and Vusu were fun for the kids and the staff were fantastic. Our son especially enjoyed painting his own rock art after he and Shepherd went looking for "tree-paint". Great... We did not stay at the famed cave lodge, but used their campsite. There are only 4 sites around rocky outcrops, as well as 5 Ndebele huts that one can occupy. The ablution is old but clean with hot showers. Activities into Matobos can be booked via the lodge. There is also a small bar. It is a wonderful quiet... More

The lodge is unique being built on a granite area with amazing rock formations. It is a good base for visiting the many caves with beautiful bushman cave paintings & for going on a walking safari to see the rhino. The rooms are stylish & comfortable. There are pleasant seating areas for relaxing & at night a camp fire. The... More
