This is a great base for exploring the National Park. The chalets are rustic but well appointed and the place has the appeal of a B&B. We were made to feel very welcome and loved the horseriding offered by the lodge. Recommended.

The owner took us on a rhino walk which was a real treat. This rhino family was a delight to watch in their habitat. Later in the day we we were taken to see the incredible Bushman Cave paintings. The highlight was to climb up to the top of the rocky outcrop behind the lodge, quite a challenge at my... More

We stayed one night at the Farmhouse as a family. It is a great venue for anyone but maybe especially for self drive visitors exploring the area in their own vehicles. The property is well maintained and clean and the chalets are very comfortable with plenty of hot water. Bedding and everything else provided was very comfortable and more than... More

Visited the place with colleagues from work just before Christmas in 2014. Had a wonderful stay, John and the staff are very polite and caring for the visitors. The grounds are well maintained and the rooms spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the game drives in their own private park and visiting the nearby Rhodes Matopos National Park. Woven into the scenery... We spent 4 wonderful days at The Farmhouse and highly recommend it. John and his team have put a lot of effort into the accommodation and grounds, and organise a wide range of fun activities both on their own extensive property and inside Matopos national park, including abseiling, rhino tracking, wildlife safaris by vehicle or on horseback, guided walks etc.... We heard of this place through a friend of ours and we were very happy we decided to go here in the end. It's a beautiful place with very nice and helpful people. If you go up the tracks behind the chalets, you end up on top of one of the bigger hills and there is an amazing view of... More

Amazing scenery and you're right in the middle of it. Go for the bush walks and you'll see wonderful rock art. Charming cottages and the best sunsets from the hill behind. The pool is a lovely place to spend a few hours on a hot afternoon. A great place to stay in the Matopos.

The individual cottages gives privacy and feeling you have your own little home. They have game rides within the farm, or you can self drive around the very scenic Matopos National Park, visiting Rhodes Grave, various dams and many caves with rock painting'. Breakfast and dinner were good, the bar lacked variety, (you can bring your own supplies). The owners... More

I was taken immediately by the feeling of family and community at this wonderful little family-owned lodge. It has a relaxed atmosphere; we had several conversations with the owners who treated us as though they'd known us all our lives. Its bar is frequented in the evenings by people from the area, and they also treated us as familiars. I... More

We booked last minute for this region as we were catching up with friends in Bulawayo. We had a arm welcome on arrival and a polite warning about the resident Zebra (Lucky) who was a little unpredictable. Our cottage was great, the breakfast serviced in the Farmhouse was plentiful and all home cooked. Alistair met us and explained how we... More
