Tucked away in a quiet area on the edge of Matobo National Park, the Farmhouse Lodge is a superb place to stay. The recently built, traditionally styled thatched lodges are sympathetically and tastefully blended into the boulder strewn hillside and are superbly finished. Exceptionally clean and comfortable, the rooms are grouped around a small swimming pool in a tree shaded... More

The Farmhouse, which is under new ownership, was our base for visiting the Matopos and for that the location was excellent. The main building and some chalets, were dwarfed by a magnificent kopjie, from the top of which one could see the surrounding area. A guided tour to some wonderful Rock art and self guided walking, provided enjoyable on-site activities... More

Fantastic place to spend a couple of nights - There is a pool built into the granite boulders for the hot days, excellent location for the game park and they have some of thier own game on the land as well. Feeling adventurous? I highly suggest the gentle climb up to the boulders to watch both sunrises and sunsets -... More

Gorgeous farm to spend a couple of nights while visiting the park. Conveniently situated between the two areas: just north of the game drive entrance and jut south of the national park entrance. They offered rich buffet dinner around the fire and a super early breakfast before the game drive. Recommended for couples and families with children as well!

This is a great base for exploring the National Park. The chalets are rustic but well appointed and the place has the appeal of a B&B. We were made to feel very welcome and loved the horseriding offered by the lodge. Recommended.

The owner took us on a rhino walk which was a real treat. This rhino family was a delight to watch in their habitat. Later in the day we we were taken to see the incredible Bushman Cave paintings. The highlight was to climb up to the top of the rocky outcrop behind the lodge, quite a challenge at my... More

We stayed one night at the Farmhouse as a family. It is a great venue for anyone but maybe especially for self drive visitors exploring the area in their own vehicles. The property is well maintained and clean and the chalets are very comfortable with plenty of hot water. Bedding and everything else provided was very comfortable and more than... More

Visited the place with colleagues from work just before Christmas in 2014. Had a wonderful stay, John and the staff are very polite and caring for the visitors. The grounds are well maintained and the rooms spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the game drives in their own private park and visiting the nearby Rhodes Matopos National Park. Woven into the scenery... We spent 4 wonderful days at The Farmhouse and highly recommend it. John and his team have put a lot of effort into the accommodation and grounds, and organise a wide range of fun activities both on their own extensive property and inside Matopos national park, including abseiling, rhino tracking, wildlife safaris by vehicle or on horseback, guided walks etc.... We heard of this place through a friend of ours and we were very happy we decided to go here in the end. It's a beautiful place with very nice and helpful people. If you go up the tracks behind the chalets, you end up on top of one of the bigger hills and there is an amazing view of... More
