A classic Wilderness Camp in a great location. Unless you fly there it it not easy to get to this camp in the middle of the Zimbabwe Bush. What I loved most, apart from the animals, was the friendly staff. Great management couple!

My husband and I took 5 Canadian guests on safari with us to Zimbabwe and Davisons was the second camp we stayed at. Besides it being during the Emerald Season (rainy season) in April, we saw a good amount of game. Elephants moved through camp on two of the days we were there and a large herd of buffalo visited... Dear AntsOnTheRoad, Thank you for your wonderful review, we are thrilled to see you and your guests enjoyed your stay with us and will be sure to pass on your kind words to Shayne, Jonnie, Lisa and all the staff in camp. Unfortunately we have to take the good with the bad, or more likely annoying, the Baboons are mischievous... More

This is a fantastic camp in Hwange with a rustic feel and old-world charm. All of the tents as well as the large and stunning main area overlooks a very busy pan. There is just no time during the day or night that game do not frequent this waterhole. We encountered lion every day, stalking buffalo, playing around the pan... More

My travel companion and I started our two-week safari at Davison's Camp. The night before in Johannesburg, another traveler told us that we would fall in love with the first place we visited in Africa and it turned out to be true! Chanda and I were lucky enought to get Dondo (not sure about the proper spelling this nickname) as... More

Due to the cancellation of our flight due to weather problems, we were driven to Hwange and met by Johnnie, who was to drive us to the Camp. With thunder and lightening threatening a tropical storm, we were driven on a Ferrari Safari To reach camp before the downpour. But wildlife along the way could not be missed and it... More

Dear Charles36, Wow, thank you for such a lovely review - I was reliving it all with you through your writing. It clear from your writing that you had the most wonderful wildlife sightings along with the excitement of thunderstorms in the African bush. Going on a walking safari adds a whole new dimension to being in the bush as... More

Food, Staff, Animal Viewing, Guides, Amenities... you name it, they were all amazing. I travelled alone to Davison's Camp and I must say I felt like I stayed with family during my 3 nights. Shane, John, Kim, Charles, and the rest of the team were always more than friendly and did a wonderful job of making it feel like home.... More

The drives out can only be described as pedestrian, or boring. This should be of serious concern. Safari camps either side of our visit much more dynamic. Priority of a drive should be the animals. We had radio calls of animals then stopped to learn about termites amongst other subjects. In our opinion this belongs to a walking safari. What is... More

dawnnn, thank you very much for posting your review. As experienced safari goers, you would be aware that there are different sets of guests allocated to any one game-viewing vehicle. The guide as the host on activities needs to provide a healthy balance and has to ensure that all guests interests and preferences are catered to. This is no mean... More

As the highlight of our wilderness safaris two-week tour, the 3-nights and wild game experiences with Shayne, John, Kim and their most incredible tracker/driver, Livingston, superseded anything we could imagine. The camp is remotely anchored inside the Hwange National Park (accessible by small plane.) Our group of 5, received every courtesy from its congenial, enthusiastic and caring staff. Rustic, yet... Spent 2 nights at Davison's Camp late August. Accommodation: • The recent refurb of both Davison’s and Little Makalolo are great, and have certainly enhanced the comfort and visual appeal of both camps, without making them look ‘over the top’. • We stayed at Davison’s both nights and the tent was extremely comfortable and water piping hot. Great water pressure... More
