Our first impression of the Inn was that it was very quaint...old and rustic, but that was part of the charm. The Inn itself was very clean, and so was our room. To the person who wrote a review of this place being shabby, well, that is ridiculous. It is an old fashioned Inn...of course there would be no updated,... More

We very much enjoyed this Inn. The hosts were very accommodating and service oriented...warm, friendly, and helpful is how I would describe this Inn. The accommodations were very good, clean, and woodsy. We enjoyed the nearby lake, boating, pool, and overall facilities.

This is a beautiful, well maintained, historic property in a serene, isolated, location. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and nicely decorated. The main inn has large, beautiful public spaces and a dining room overlooking acres of open space and forest. The innkeepers are wonderful, welcoming folks who really go out of their way to meet your every request. They cook... More

We stayed in the Hemlock room in the cottage building. It was nice and comfy - rustic and warm with a country feeling to match the setting. This B&B has lots of amenties that you usually only find at a resort - a swimming pool, hiking trails, boating on the lake, tennis, and a big lawn for impromtu games. The... More

We were so pleased to receive a gift certificate to this Inn, but were so disappointed in the quality of this establishment. We have stayed in many B&B's and while they are all "old", none of them were as shabby as this! We stayed in the Cardinal room and I don't think it has been updated since Cardinal Hayes stayed... We’re sorry this guest had a poor experience at our Inn and would like to respond to her issues. With regard to her feeling that her guest room had not been updated and appeared shabby, we’re at a bit of a loss to understand this guest’s response. The Inn is an old building, but we’re meticulous with cleaning each and... More

We just returned from a four-night stay at the Inn at Lake Joseph. The Inn is absolutely charming. The cottage we stayed in was fabulous. It came with a Jacuzzi, kitchenette and barbecue on a deck. The staff was excellent. The Inn runs like a well-oiled machine. The food was fresh and delicious. The nearby lake is pristine and quiet.... More

Loved our stay here. We were in the Tack Room, which is a lower floor room in the carriage house. The room has a two-person bathtub, a king bed with very comfortable sheets, a 2 person shower, an air conditioner and a gas fireplace, as well as sitting chairs, a table and chairs, fridge, coffee maker and microwave. We loved... More

This was our third time back to the Inn. We have always found the folk's here to be friendly and helpful. Their morning breakfast is second to none and what they provide you for lunch can keep you filled beyond supper. If you like outdoor activity, this is your place. They have their own private lake that you can swim,... More

Some years have passed since our first visit to the inn-and this time we brought our dog. The inn remains one of my favorite weekend getaways and if you are visiting the lower Catskills it is in a class by itself. Love the fact that you can bring your dog and hike on the inn's trails off leash. The rooms... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Inn, with working fireplaces, whirlpool baths and private sundecks, is located high in the Catskill Mountains on a 250-acre private lake. Like resort lodging, the Inn provides a variety of summer and winter recreational facilities, including access to a health and fitness spa. But unlike larger hotels, the Inn, with just 17 guestrooms, is a luxurious, yet informal, casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, private, rustic mountain lake environment. Very much like the Berkshires, White Mountains, Adirondacks and Poconos, the Catskills surrounding the Inn offer spectacular scenes of lakes and rivers, as well as hiking trails with views of majestic peaks and isolated waterfalls. However, unlike these other regions, the Inn is no more than 2 hours from New York City. ... more   less
