I stayed at the BIg Moose Inn for my son's wedding reception. My daughter and I flew into Albany from Southern California and drove to Eagle Bay for the week end of June 28th. The drive to Eagle Bay was absolutely beautiful. I live in the desert and I simply forgot how green the countryside is, how clean the lakes... More

We stayed there on a Living Social deal in early May and it was really wonderful. unfortunately their restaurant was not opened mid week yet but we heard amazing things about it. The proprietors Mark and Sue were very friendly and helpful and gave us some right on recommendations for other places to eat in the area. The room was... More

We've all heard a hundred times "location, location, location", but that phrase has never been more appropriate than with Big Moose Inn. While traveling back from Montreal, Canada, to our home in Nebraska, I looked for a quaint motel or lodge off of the beaten track, something that would be a welcome respite from our days of traveling the interstate... Stayed two nights over St Patrick's Day weeeknd. Had not stayed overnight previously but had been to the tavern a few times on trips to the Old Forge/Inlet area. We had a lovely, clean room overlooking the lake with a comfy king size bed and nice Adirondack charm. Appreciated the nice toiletries, real glasses/coffee mugs (not plastic or styrofoam) and... During a recent trip to Old Forge, my wife and I had dinner, which is atypical since we usually only have drinks or at most appetizers. Suffice to say we were overwhelmed by the quality of the meal, as well as the service from our server Jake and the exceptional customer appreciation shown by the owner Mark. We go to... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights including New Years Eve. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with personal and friendly service from the owners. The atmosphere is intimate, quaint and elegantly rustic. We both agreed that it felt like spending a holiday with close family. Cuisine on New Years Eve was exquisite and surpassed all expectations. Clearly... More

We spent New Year's eve at the Big Moose Inn! It was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door till the moment we checked out. The owners are a lovely, friendly, service minded young couple that really make you feel welcome! The food was wonderful and the dining room was comfortable yet appropriately festive. The duck,... Food is great in restaurant and tavern. Staff very friendly and helpful. Located lakeside. Boating, canoeing, hiking. Beautiful mountains in all directions. Many scenic lakes nearby. Cozy fireplace, porch, dock. Under very good management. We'll go back every year.

We reserved two nites thereand arrived midnight. Not sure what to expect, we wete greeted by the owner at the door. In need of a glass of wine after our 7 hour trip, he kept the tavern open, talking and telling us about the area. Next day we went to the town. Charming! We spent the day exploring, then went...
