This lodge is very warm, friendly and inviting. All the staff were particularly helpful and although I have been going to the Chautauqua Institute for 25+ years it is the first time that I have stayed here. My loss.

Stayed in the Sunflower room. Let's start with the positives---the location. Right next to the Ampitheater and Bestor Plaza. That's all one can say on that score. Now for the negatives--a musty smell greeted us as we entered and never left our nostrils. The bathroom was in disrepair with no electrical outlet or space for supplies. The sink and its... More

This review comes really late since we stayed at the Cambridge just about a year ago (July/August 2013). The owners, Dick and Susan, was very pleasant and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable As others have noted, it's not the ritz, but the price was right and the rooms were very comfortable with basic amenities and funky charm. Our... More

I've stayed at the Cambridge six times and am happy to return each year. It's quaint but comfortable. This century-old building shows its age, but that adds to the charm. The Ritz it's not -- but rooms are clean and liveable with "mix and match" decor. Baths on each floor are shared, but kept clean. The ideal location trumps all... More

I've stayed at the Cambridge several times and the owners and location make this Inn the place to stay at Chautauqua. There is a charming little outdoor area for reading, taking in a book or a light conversation. The outdoor kitchen is perfect for a breakfast or on the go snack. Susan and Dick, the owners/innkeepers, are charming, helpful and... More

I have know DIck and Susasn< owners of the cambridge for over thirty years. They are a delightful and gracious host and hostess. I spent the entire summer of 2010 staying at The Cambridge. My accomadations were great. My room was clean when I arrived and the water pressure in the shower couldn't have been better. Being 100 yards from... More

We have stayed at the Cambridge at Chautauqua yearly for almost 20 years. We travel now with 2 children & spend a week each visit. Chautauqua is a very unique Institution & the Cambridge embodies that with its accomodations. The location is idealic in the center of EVERYTHING! Sitting on the front patio or covered porch you can hear the... More

I have stayed at The Cambridge for the past three years. I usuually come to Chautauqua for two weeks to enjoy being immersed in culture and education. The Cambridge fits the profile of Chautauqua. I have found the accomodations very "Chautauquan", by which I mean not exactly the most modern but very warm and friendly. I am coming back to... More

This is the quintessential "old Chautauqua" located in the heart of the grounds and near Bestor Plaza. The owners and staff are experts at hospitality. The place is "shabby chic" and staying there a delightful step into the past.

Gross. Musty smelling, black mold growing on the sink, spider webs on the windows, one broken window pane, accumulation of dust all around the bed and on the plastic flowers which surround the place. Windows were unopen-able. Shower down the hall was sadly substandard. "Breakfast": poor quality, sugary convenience snacks. Service: mostly unavailable. Good grief. No, I would not recommend...
